@hfinn000 I still see it as a meta-cognitive gap where the individual who has no skills or talent is in the worst position to judge how confident they should be about their output.

Note the parallelism between Dunning-Kruger and LLM psychosis: if you are unable to expertly verify the output, it’ll all look good to you with hidden mistakes you can not fix. This has costly implications in legal matters, critical software, medicine, etc.

I used AI to double check my annual closing statements of my company - fed it bank statements, accounting statements etc, parallel to my accountant going thru it as well. It found some good stuff, but also hallucinated a bunch of other, nonexistent problems. I feel more and more LLMs are excellent tools... in the hands of professionals who can easily confirm hallucination vs real stuff.

Coding agentlarını CC çıkışından beri her gün ama her gün kullanıyorum. Henüz kimseyi replace etme yeteneğinde değil ama şirketler AI kaynaklı işten çıkarma yapıyorlar :) Büyük şirketler budama yapmak için AI var artık bu kadar insana ihtiyacımız yok yalanının arkasına saklanıyor. Buna da yabancı terminolojide AI-washed layoffs deniyor. Küçük/orta firmalar zaten büyükler ne yaparsa onu kopyalar asdfasdf

@kellabyte I think you may be referring to the storage engine, or single node behaviour. When you think about the resilience aspects of a 1K+ node cluster, for instance, I’m not so sure. The most advanced Control Plane magic is still proprietary.

Reviewing code generated by AI offsets all the productivity gains you get by using AI. It takes a lot of effort to review and validate changes, and you cannot do that for 8 hours per day.
Unless you are vibe coding, the actual productivity gains are marginal in large projects where software mistakes cost a lot of money.

An addition to this excellent observation: in most companies, your ability to go higher in ranks doesn’t depend on what “you can deliver” (with or without AI), but “what you can influence” by pushing for the right things and winning those arguments. Do not give up on this skill.

I’m so glad AI killed LeetCode interviews. For 10 years, tech companies made every engineer grind the same puzzles and prove they could invert a binary tree from memory. Today, the dumbest AI model can walk in and one-shot the entire interview. Thank you, AI.
