The Texas Attorney General’s office continues to peddle lies and misstatements, working overtime to cover for the Attorney General himself while egregiously laying the blame at the feet of the victim. The facts are clear: they were reckless and lazy and negligent at every step of this case — and that failure has led to a child rapist avoiding registration as a sex offender and walking our streets as a free man with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. #txlege

Health sharing ministries continue to be a cost-effective alternative to ACA coverage with a proven track record of success. I sincerely appreciate your comments @DanielAldersTX, you do an excellent job of highlighting the features that make them so successful in the marketplace.

Texans deserve affordable healthcare, but right now there are twisted incentives in our system that are driving up costs. This is unsustainable. We had a great deep dive in the House Select Committee on Health Care Affordability during our hearing this week. Thanks to Chairman @RepJamesFrank for putting together our very informative panels and a robust agenda, and to Speaker @Burrows4TX for making the issue a House priority. I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues over the next weeks and months to find meaningful, market-driven solutions.

Elisabeth and I are heartbroken to learn of the unexpected passing of Chad Hasty. Texas has lost a powerful voice for conservative truth, integrity, and common sense. Chad wasn’t just a broadcaster, he was one of the very best to ever cover the people, policy, and politics shaping the Texas Legislature and our state. He asked the right questions, gave fair room for debate, and, most importantly, he made sure Texans stayed informed. I’m especially grateful for the role Chad played in my own journey to and through the Texas House. Time and again, he offered me a seat at his microphone and the opportunity to speak directly to the people I serve. He believed in giving leaders a platform — and holding them accountable — and he did both with professionalism, respect, and a healthy dose of humor. West Texas feels a lot quieter today with the loss of his voice. We are deeply saddened and our prayers are with his family, his listeners, and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
