National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has signed a tripartite MoU with Suzuki R&D Center India Pvt. Ltd. and Surat District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. @SumulRoot for setting up a 75 MTPD dung-based Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant at Surat, Gujarat. The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. @ShahMeenesh, Chairman, NDDB; Shri Kenichiro Toyofuku, Director, SRDI; Shri H. R. Patel, Custodian; and Shri Arun Purohit, Managing Director, Sumul Dairy. This MoU marks a significant step under NDDB’s leadership towards promoting sustainability and circularity in the dairy sector. The project will generate clean CBG and nutrient-rich organic fertilisers, helping improve soil health, reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers, promote climate-resilient farming, create additional income opportunities for dairy farmers and contribute to India’s carbon neutrality goals.

NDDB Foundation for Nutrition (NFN) founded by NDDB won the First Prize in the category 'Initiatives on Agri-Based Decarbonization' at the FICCI @ficci_india 5th Sustainable Agriculture Awards 2025 for its Go-Green Manure Management Programme on December 15, 2025. The award was conferred by Dr. Praveen K. Singh, Agriculture Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, GoI in august presence of Sh. Naveen Kumar Patle, Additional Commissioner (Horticulture – Fruit), @AgriGoI , Mr. Siraj Chaudhary, Senior Member, FICCI Committee on Agriculture and Mr. Sunjay Vuppuluri, National Head – Food & Agribusiness Strategic Advisory & Research, @YESBANK . The programme was recognised for promoting dung-based biogas solutions that convert cattle dung into clean energy & nutrient-rich slurry—strengthening circular economy models, improving manure management & supporting rural decarbonisation. NDDB through NFN is playing a pivotal role in promoting dung-based biogas initiatives as an integral part of sustainable dairying and rural decarbonisation. By leveraging its deep engagement with dairy cooperatives & farmers, NDDB has advanced the adoption of biogas solutions at household level that convert cattle dung into clean energy & nutrient-rich slurry. These initiatives not only reduce dependence on fossil fuels but also enhance farm-level resource efficiency, improve manure management and create additional value streams for dairy farmers.

Shri Rajesh Parjane (@rajeshnparjane), Chairman, Godavari Khore Milk Union called on Dr @ShahMeenesh, Chairman, NDDB to discuss on expanding and developing dairy processing infrastructure to strengthen the Union's dairy value chain. Key areas covered in the meeting included modernising existing processing facilities, increasing milk handling capacity, diversifying products, strengthening the supply chain and creating scalable, efficient systems to meet future market demands and on promoting installation of small biogas plants at the backyard of farmers. The Chairman emphasised NDDB's commitment to supporting cooperative institutions in developing sustainable, technology-driven and farmer-centric infrastructure. Shri Parjane also paid his respects to Smt. Maniben Patel, honouring her legacy in India’s cooperative movement.
