It is covetousness that pushes people to sell their properties in Nigeria to take up care jobs in America — Pastor Dolapo Lawal During a recent service, Pastor Dolapo Lawal criticised the growing desire among Nigerians to relocate abroad, saying many are driven by covetousness and social pressure rather than wisdom or proper planning. “It’s a f%olish thinking. Because you are seeing people taking pictures in the UK you think they are okay? Now you go there and get stranded there but you cannot come back because of shame,” he said. He warned that social media often gives a false impression of life abroad, making people believe everyone is successful outside the country. “How many people have gone to the UK and become a millionaire there? You better wake up,” he added, urging people to rethink selling property in Nigeria just to relocate for care jobs abroad.

The world studies how you treat yourself before deciding how to treat you. If you tolerate nonsense, you silently give people permission to continue. Respect is not begged for, It’s observed. When you set standards, you lose some people, but you gain something more valuable and that's dignity. Some people will call you “proud” or “difficult” when you stop accepting less. That’s not your problem, that’s their access being denied and obviously their headache. 🤷🏽‍♂️ A man with self-respect doesn’t chase where he’s tolerated, he stands where he’s valued. A woman with self-respect doesn’t beg for clarity, she walks away from confusion. Self-respect is discipline. It’s saying “no” when your emotions want to say “yes”. It’s choosing long-term peace over short-term validation. The moment you start respecting your time, energy, and values, people either adjust or exit. And both are wins. 💪🏽 Because the right people don’t fight your standards, they meet them. So stop lowering yourself to keep people, the ones meant for you don’t require that. Self-respect is the foundation. Without it, every other kind of respect is temporary.
