[Joint Statement] The Equal Education Law Centre, @equal_education, @CIatUCT, @SECTION27news, @KopanangAfrica, and @LHR_SA unequivocally condemn the recent wave of intimidation and violence targeting migrant persons, including children, in parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

[Youth Groups] In GP we hosted Youth Groups in Daveyton, Tembisa, & KTD, focusing on the school budget. The session created a space for Equalisers to engage & learn more about how the education budget is distributed. #YouthPower

[Membership Spaces] Today in EC the PSY met to have a progressive discussion about their campaign around The Waithood of Youth, as it is a serious issue amongst young people. #YouthPower

[EC Parents Meeting] 📌The Eastern Cape parents branch convened today at Sweetwater Community Hall in Qonce. This is where parents reflected on the Eastern Cape roundtable which was held last week as well as the growing corruption observed within Eastern Cape education system.

[LC Meeting] Equalisers in the Eastern Cape had an opportunity to host an LC meeting where they reflected on the ODW visit & the roundtable. In LP, the Equalisers also had an LC meeting where they too reflected on the ODW visit & the reading revolution. #YouthPower

[Post School Youth] UJ T-SOC hosted their meet & greet with the new leadership last week. The purpose of the event was to introduce Equal Education & the executives to students & also pave the way for campaigns around the challenges & problems students face on campus. #YouthPower

[Post School Youth] Facilitators in the Eastern Cape met last week for a team-building session in KuGompo City. Here, they shared how they want to grow themselves and the movement in the Eastern Cape province. #YouthPower

[Youth Groups] Last week, the Western Cape province had Youth Groups under the theme School Budgets. They learned what provincial education budgets look like, then they went ahead & participated in an activity where they decided what their school budgets would look like.

We welcomed our comrades from Norway’s largest student movement, ODW. We took them to visit some of the schools we’re organising in the province, to share how we build power from the ground up and show the work of learners and communities fighting for equal, quality education.
