"Saving" faith is just plain faith on a very uncomplicated Truth That God is Jesus and He was here breathing the same air as us, and made promises that went from His lips to ears He made sounds non-miraculously That's what saves us. The same faith we use on any promise.
Caio Rodrigues@ReformedCaio

@DustinSJenkins Could man, in his fallen state and without God’s grace, seek God and exercise saving faith that is pleasing to God?

@ReformedCaio @DustinSJenkins We come to faith that Jesus will keep His promise! It is that good and simple The same way we reap the blessings of a friend that keeps promises, we reap the salvation of a God that keeps promises

@ReformedCaio @DustinSJenkins Please don't spread that there is a special faith one must do It is the same faith in the promise of others we apply I think God blessed everyone with at least one person that keeps at least one promise in each of our lives, and that is the pattern of the Gospel that saves

To my non-Reformed friends, from your perspective/view what is it that grace does for the person?

(So you also should) ***CONSIDER*** yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

@ReformedCaio The arguments sometimes fail to realize, it's a size-difference discussion on God vs man With both sides arguing: Infinity-W=Infinity Just with different views on the size of W (human will) Calvinists are just firm, W=0 Others say W=finite number All agree W cannot be infinity

This is what it’s like to discuss Reformed theology on this platform. Very few don’t devolve to this. It’s predictable. It’s tired. It’s intellectually lazy.

@JonKismetCalvin @1984_nate KEY: However large creation is, and the set of possible events in time, it is still finite Agency is finite However depraved we are Sin is still finite While God the Father is infinite Truth for Him has a different quality against ours Truth is not unchanging Truth is Risen

@JonKismetCalvin @1984_nate There is a difference between Changing His mind vs His mind knows all ways (or is The Way) That's why following Christ is not the narrowing of life But is The Life Of our finite ways to live Living The Life Allows us to align with the infinite and everlasting past death

There is a distinct difference between the character of God and the nature of God. Just because God is able to change His mind doesn't mean that He will change His mind when it comes to His promises. We can trust His proven character without limiting His freedom.

@rootcausesleuth Now what happens? The very good KNOWS good vs evil The very good wants the husbands role and judges the husband The husband needs to atone for the garden The husband toils for dust, returns to dust after While also knowing good vs evil Under a wife and God's judgement

How are we affected by Adam gaining “knowledge of good and evil” when he ate from the tree?

@dmullz_117 @1984_nate Ontologically: reliable foundation != unchanging foundation Numbers 23 describes God as good and reliable, NOT unchanging There is a big difference there Immutable character != Immutable reality God has a RELATIONSHIP with man Careful not to swing into fatalism

@1984_nate Stability implies the ability to stay consistent and unchanging. Numbers 23:19 quite explicitly states that what distinguishes God, ontologically from man, is his ability to stay the same. No additional context needed.

Over and over God proves Himself to be trustworthy but that's not enough for some Christians. They have to conclude that God is trustworthy because He cannot do otherwise, that if He were actually able to change His mind then for some odd reason He'd fail to be trustworthy. SMH
