The problem with the big 2 is that most people reading them aren't comic fans. They're fans of certain characters. So Batman fans would never acknowledge this problem or how it's unhealthy for the industry.
They don't care about comics, they care about their favorite toy

I was angry for a while but kept buying assuming eventually my favorite characters would stop making me angry. It was absolutely sunk cost fallacy behavior. Finally I dropped the books I'd been buying for decades and I was no longer angry. Now, the moment I hit angry, I drop it.
