I recognize my privilege as a cis-woman and I try to be informed about sex and gender issues, especially because I study sex differences. I'm also guilty of making mistakes. It's important that we're all open to learning, so that we can support our community as a community.

I've seen some major players in research conflating sex and gender. Sex is anatomy and gender is a social construct. "Male" and "female" are terms that describe sex. "Men" and "women" are terms that describe gender. And, both categories have more than those two groups! 1/3

@SCC_CCS following CCC you shared a feedback form. If you're asking about gender identity, then make sure you're only including gender identities in your options (not sex).

@embase if you're going to include a filter for gender, then use gender terms and go beyond the binary! You should also consider another filter for sex.
