@davidubben Totally fair. But why not also call out the voter who named Cody Schrader, Mizzou’s QB No. 1? Or Ollie Gordon, Okie State’s RB? Probably not as sexy to call out those voters as throw out out McCarthy’s name.

I would read 1500 words from the person who voted J.J. McCarthy first on their Heisman ballot. Somebody has to break that one down for me.

Selfishly wanted Bo because he was 💰all yr Penix was the one who overall should’ve won. Yet they give it to JD who didn’t do a single meaningful thing all year. Every important moment was a loss. Penix went 13-0. Played hurt. Won the Pac. CFB voters are an absolute farce.

Is Jayden Daniels the LEAST Impressive Heisman Winner of All Time? No hate intended, you have to be an ELITE player to even be in the conversation for the trophy... it's just that he's the least elite winner we've had yet. As the leader of LSU, the Tigers were NEVER in the conversation for the national championship all season long 🏆 In the big games vs ranked opponents, LSU was a paltry 1-3. They haven't been in the Top 10 for MONTHS... He never had a 'Heisman Moment' that went viral or resulted in a landmark victory. Instead, he simply just stuffed the stat sheet. Heisman Winners go down in history. Decades from now, we'll still remember RG3's game winning pass vs Oklahoma, Manziel's magic act against Alabama, Joe Burrow torching the Tide in Tuscaloosa... What are we supposed to remember from Jayden? That time he threw for 400 on Georgia State in November? With respect, this makes the award feel devalued.

@AriWasserman Ari, gonna give you a “But”. Love your originality … But would you have left Barry Sanders off your ‘88 ballot if you voted then? He had little to do with “the story of the season.” But he was the best player. That’s what the award if for, no matter what your mentor told you.

My vote goes to the people who you couldn’t leave out when telling the story of the college football season. Jayden Daniels was incredible this year, but I don’t think he had a single memorable moment for the casual fan for the entire season. You could explain 2023 CFB’s season and never mention his name. Doesn’t mean he isn’t an incredible player. It just means he doesn’t meet the criteria I use with my vote.
