@DesideriaMesa With the end in sight, it's like that. The stakes feel higher. I breeze through writing the middle of a book. When I get to the last 10,000 words, my brain tries to sabotage me. I suddenly discover a burning need to learn about obscure fruits, Roman aqueducts, and the f-stop.

One and a half chapters left to edit feels harder than when I had 20.

@AuthorGFAllen 18? 20? Something like that. Got 3 or 4 more in varying stages of active development/completeness, and a few more someday projects I’ve started but don’t have the time to actively write at the moment…but that I am determined to get back to in the next few years.

How many books have you written in your lifetime?

@DesideriaMesa That’s the gods of creativity having a laugh at your expense. I tend to get those moments in the grocery store, which is why I’m in the grocery store all the time buying food in cans and jars that I don’t actually need. And pastries, which I absolutely need.

I spend two hours in front of my computer last night, trying to fill a plot hole in my magic system. Then, it comes to me while I’m driving to work. Come on, now. 😩

@DiavellaO It’s practically impossible as an indie author. If you can get even close it’s a minor miracle. I’ve never managed it with my self-published stuff. My publisher worked some black magic to make it happen with that book.

Why can’t we include interior artwork in our novels anymore? I’d love random pages between chapters that depict images of my characters and scenes!
