@lucky_budd Man, what a total drag. Had a sudden strong desire to listen to the Dead yesterday after work and was thinking to myself how Bobby, Jerry and Phil were just absolute masters of harmony and voicing. RIP to one of the greatest of all time. Very sad day.

🔹Saanich council apologizes for not advising residents Mann Avenue would lose on-street parking for bike lanes🔹 Nearly $500,000 bikes lanes are being installed along Mann Avenue in Saanich, between Glanford and Wilkinson roads. The problem is, residents along the street had no idea their street would see this investment into alternative transportation, until shortly before construction crews arrived. Saanich Mayor Dean Murdock says he and his council mishandled the situation, and take responsibility for not adequately advising residents of the upcoming changes. The Times Colonist reports that some two dozen Mann Avenue residents attended Monday’s council meeting critical of the unannounced bike lanes coming to their neighbourhood, save for a mail-out that arrived two days prior to construction starting. @groovypippin1 @VibrantVictoria Also, there actually are bike lanes at Glanford and Mann that you can use to access Royal Oak Middle school (via West Saanich Rd./Quadr bike lanes) and a bit further to Commonwealth Rec Centre (and of course all of the things in between like Country Grocer Etc)

@groovypippin1 @VibrantVictoria Glanford is not a bike route. Locals use Bremerton which connects to Mann via the Colquitz trail or the new bike lanes on Vanalman. Once you get to Mann, you can connect with the trail system around Layritz Park and Camosum Interurban. Hope that helps 👍🏽

@Kathleen_LRR @VibrantVictoria Cyclists are legitimate or not. If they're not legitimate, they don't need licensing, insurance or infrastructure. If they're getting infrastructure, it's because they're legitimate. They need licensing, insurance, etc.. Cyclists dodge responsibility and regulation.

@VibrantVictoria You mean lose the ability to store their private property on public property right? Homeowners own their land, they don’t own the street. These people all still have their own private parking spots, it’s called a driveway.

@VibrantVictoria Sorry to read of the lack of notice but very excited for the addition of these lanes to our neighborhood. My family and many others use this route to get to Layritz for baseball. My 9 yr old had a VERY close call with an aggressive driver this past summer on Mann. Be safe!

a library patron came to the desk and said "I'm getting more into jazz, can you grab me a handful of jazz CDs?" and after making sure he was down to get weird i ran to the stacks and grabbed these. best kind of library work right here
