@LakersFaithful_ As described they would be over the cap with the full mid-level of about $15M,so not enough to get either. LeBron unsigned has a gigantic cap hold

@EricPincus Is there a way for lakers to offer both Watson and Kessler max contracts? Let say they trade all their guys on contract vando, Laravia, knecht. Smart and Ayton don’t opt in. And Austin and lebron wait to sign new contracts. What’s the most they could offer them?

Latest @BleacherReport How the Los Angeles Lakers Could Land Giannis Antetokounmpo in a Blockbuster Trade - continuing the series trying to anticipate each team's best, most-realistic offer. This one assumes MIL eager to pay Reaves heavily via S&T bleacherreport.com/articles/25429…

The Lakers may give Austin a sizable offer to stay, but if it's subpar, and if Chicago/Brooklyn are not offering, then Austin needs a team willing to pay him. The destination becomes secondary to locking in the best contract he can earn

@EricPincus @BleacherReport I doubt Reaves agrees to play in Milwaukee

"If the Lakers don't get a clear answer from LeBron by July 1st, they may have to renounce his rights. ... I would be stunned if that happened, but there is a little bit more of an urgency." @WindhorstESPN details LeBron's free agency scenarios ✍️

@BillyBadahh I can't speak to what he'll accept, but if no team with cap room is paying him, the most he can get is NTMLE. If Lakers don't S&T him out - which is a 3-yr deal requirement - then he can retire or go for most avail at NTMLE

@EricPincus Wow. So he would accept the no taxpayer MLE from the Warriors?

Initially, I'm not feeling the new lottery/tanking system (unofficial, but expected to be in place). I understand and get the logic of aprons and can argue why they're needed. Feels like these tanking rules are cross purpose. I like to be wrong though, so TBD

@EricPincus This is off topic Eric, but I saw that you said the GSW seems like an obvious move for LeBron. Is that just based off of your gut feeling? I enjoy your work.

@Ralph_MasonJr Freezing at all-star and eliminating cliff tanking solves the issue for most cases. Usually 3 max terrible teams per year

@EricPincus i read it, part of your premise seems to be that tanking isnt even that big of a deal or a massive problem, that it’s part of the league Adam Silvers reply to that probly is: “you’re fired”

@EricPincus @EricPincus What I can't figure out is they're saying 16 teams are in the lottery, since there are only 30 teams and 16 make the playoffs will 2 playoff teams also be in the lottery?

@Rafy122 The fix that went in place in 2019 to battle The Process was counter-productive, and this doubles down on its worst qualities, at least IMO without all the facts at this time

@EricPincus Of course, I just think teams went to extreme measures in the last 3-4 years. This is just a long winded way of me saying they probably should have kept it like it was b/c I don't think the tanking would get to that level anytime soon.

@jeprx @BleacherReport I don't know where the Pelicans are at the moment with a new coach, new tanking/lottery rules. I do know there was some negotiation from other teams before the deadline relative to their players

@Rafy122 There's a longer history of tanking than Wemby, Flagg, etc. I get why the NBA wants to change that, but I don't know that this is that - the solution and the problem diverge

@EricPincus It's an over correction. Teams tanked b/c they wanted a shot at Wemby, Flagg, or this draft. Draft strength or prospects had every thing to do with how teams moved.
