@MikeSlagh Interested in your perspective. Thinking about doing the same thing for my son.

We’re part of the Alpha Anywhere beta (home school offering)
But can’t home school right now, so trying it out as a supplement
Which totally defeats the indomitable “time back” Golden Rule
NO amount of money, aggressive deal making, nor outright eye-opening levels of bribery defeats Time Back
It is a (newly discovered for me) universal law of physics and child psychology
But the boys’ MAP scores shot way up with just minimal engagement (it was a daily dogfight)
Trying to decide whether to stick with it, just offering a perspective

@jliemandt Opening in the greater Dallas area? Asking as the father of a 7th grader who I think would thrive in the Alpha environment

As principal, I’ve noticed that most parents need two things to move their child to Alpha:
1. A reference from a trusted adult in their city (e.g., hearing Austin parents love it doesn’t help in NYC).
2. To see a student at the school do something their kid can’t do (e.g., love school, great academics, or demonstrate a valued life skill).
We are opening schools in as many cities as possible so this proof and these references can start in every city.

A mom whose teen son I tutor called me out of the blue yesterday asking if I had ever heard of Alpha School I told her yes and asked her how she heard about it and she said she overheard a few moms talking about Alpha at the grocery store I asked her if she would send her son to Alpha and her only concern was that its to new wanted more time to see how it works out Its really cool to see other educational options become more mainstream

Me all year: "Playoff baseball is the best. Can't wait until the Sox are back in the playoffs"
Me during Red Sox playoff baseball: "This is the most torturous experience a human can possibly go through"

At a BYU away game, chants of “F the Mormons” rang out from the stands. Another hollow apology followed.
Less than 36 hours later, actual Latter-day Saints were shot and killed.

The University of Colorado Boulder strongly condemns the use of expletives and religious slurs by individuals in the stands during the recent football game against BYU. (1/7)

@Steve_Perrault I feel like he does this with every pitcher. To his credit, he doesn’t discriminate. He’s happy to let every one’s inherited runners score.

Living to 101 is a privilege I never anticipated. I was pleased to be able to share a few thoughts in a global publication about what I have learned and observed during this time.
After more than a century of life and decades of studying both the human body and the human soul, I have found this to be true: we are happiest when we remember our divine worth and extend that recognition to others—beginning with our own families.
More than two millennia ago, Jesus Christ preached these same laws of happiness: to love God and to love our neighbor. After 101 years, I can say that these are not abstract theological ideas—they are practical wisdom.
If you would like, you may read in the link below some of the thoughts I penned.

@NBCSportsSoccer How this is a penalty when he’s pulling back his arm is about the dumbest call I’ve ever seen

Interesting scriptural connection I never noticed before. Consider this familiar scripture from last week's Come Follow Me lesson:
"Therefore, in the ordinances [of the priesthood], the power of godliness is manifest." (D&C 84:20)
What is the "godliness?" Previously, I interpreted that to mean "goodness" or "virtue." But this last time, I read "godliness" as "exaltation." To see if I was right, I checked in Spanish. Sure enough, the Spanish version of that verse translates godliness as "divinidad." Literally "divinity."
In the ordinances of the priesthood, the power of exaltation is manifest.
Now, cross-reference that to the Lord's word to Joseph in the Sacred Grove. The existing churches were rejected by the Lord because they "denied the power of godliness."
Exaltation is not a late-Nauvoo, fringe doctrine. It's the key element missing from existing churches: the authority to administer the ordinances necessary to bring men and women into exaltation.
Interesting.
