@KXAN reported HCISD approved $12.2M in budget cuts, laying off staff and increasing class size. The #txlege $55 increase in basic allotment falls short of the $800-$1K increase needed to adjust for inflation. Our state must do more to increase educational investment.

I am deeply disappointed to see another report of #TXST firing someone for engaging in constitutionally protected speech. Employees at public universities do not relinquish their 1st amendment rights as a condition of employment. Politics must not determine employability. #txlege
