You’ve got the goal of throwing (X) velocity right? Or playing at (X) level. Good. Now what you need to do is take a LONG look at the guys currently at that level. What do their mechanics look like compared to yours? What is their height? What is their weight? What presence do they bring onto the field? How’s their breathing? What do they do every single day to maintain their level of excellence? Once you do that, it’s time to self analyze. And REALLY ask yourself “what do I need to do to get to that level of competence and performance” This will eliminate all the things you THINK you need, and leave you with the work that’s left in front of you. Nose to the grindstone. Nobody said it was going to be easy.

Change and growth can be tough. But nothing is as tough as staying stuck in the same place where you aren't meant to be. Read that again.

Positivity is not about slapping a smile on your face, ignoring the reality of a situation, and assuming that everything is always awesome. Positivity is the ability to stare the brutal facts in the face and then focus on what you’re going to do about it. It’s striving to grow and improve despite how challenging your current situation is. It’s easy to be positive when things are going well. It’s crucial to be positive when things aren’t going well.

5 contributors to Pronator issues (Q&A Response) 1. Pronator tendon issues may be from overuse. Check workloads, especially in terms of volume/intensity in warm-ups/plyos, catch play, bullpen warm-ups & recovery days. This volume adds up. ⬇️🧵

Don’t place so much weight on other people’s opinions of you, especially if they don’t know you. You are the most important person you speak to everyday. It’s okay if others don’t believe in you, what matters most is that you believe in you.

If you try really f*cking hard at anything in life people will criticize you, tell you you’re obsessed (as if that’s bad) and try to shame you into staying the same. Those same people will applaud you in 5 year when you ‘made it’ and pretend as if they supported the entire time. Whats the difference between a crazy person and a genius? Evidence it worked. The real ones help you make it f*cking happen.

If you feel overwhelmed—good. It means you’re pushing your limits. If you feel emotional—good. It means you’ve found something deeply important. If you feel uncertain—good. It means you’re learning.

Most things just need to be done — I used to like the phrase, “How you do anything is how you do everything.” Doing the little things right is important. But there’s not enough time in the world to do everything well. Some things just need to be done. You don’t approach buying groceries the same way you approach creating and preparing for a big presentation at work. You shouldn’t approach those things the same way. No matter how “well” you get your groceries, at the end of the day, if the groceries are in your pantry, you did your job. Paying bills is like this, too. Sure, there are ways to be efficient and strategic in paying your bills, but all that matters is if your bills got paid. How they got paid doesn’t matter. I once read that a good measure of one’s maturity is how organized their sock drawer was. Because people don’t expect anyone to look at their sock drawer, having it organized shows they have integrity and care about doing the small things well. When I first learned that, I thought it was genius. But now I think it just means you spend too much time organizing your sock drawer. Some things need to be done well, but a lot of things just need to be done. Don’t confuse the two.
