I condemn attempts by President Ruto and his political acolytes to use political violence and intimidation to stop our voter registration #UkatibaCaravan in Tharaka University today.
We will not be intimidated.
I would like to thank our people of Tharaka Ninthi for coming out and receiving us warmly in Chogoria town and at Chuka University.
Let us register in large numbers and vote out Ruto and his regime.

Mlima,
Let us accept that we live in a Kenya that other communities occupy and that our numbers can be a political tool to bargain or a weapon to demolish .
A tool to ensure that we get into a bargain with whoever is in power . Without entitlement, we can respectfully negotiate without blackmail.
President Uhuru did so in 2009 and agreed to have President Ruto support him into presidency in 2013.
They agreed on 10:10 years support pact . We are almost there in to fulfilling it.
Uhuru managed to stabilize a country that was on the verge of anarchy .
He became our true king Pin.
We are now at our worst times, where our differenceโs arenโt external; they are internal .Where leaders from our community are attacking each others in every forum including in solemn events like funerals and sacred places such churches.
Infact, other communities are laughing at us as we tear each other out.
We have broken the records and mutilated the very fabric that we swore not to .
Hatred has become our currency.
Every social media page is full of hatred and whining .
Our local radio stations are amplifying hate, malice and propaganda bringing down homes , businesses and careers. Gossip and fake news are trending.
I was in the media space in 1998, 2003 towards 2007 I know what I know. The HAGUE debacle wasnโt fun. We all said DONT BE VAGUE, GO TO HAGUE. We regretted .
I write this piece with tears in my eyes when I remember what I saw and experienced.
I swore never to be at it again and will never agree to beat tribal drums again .
Now the Gen X and Zee may not have a feel of Election violence, they grew up
In peace and respect.
They may not know the costs of violence , pain of internally displaced persons .The pain of forced migration, the pain of mass graves .
I have made a conscious decision to allow President Ruto to Govern in peace. Reminding him of responsibility as a steward of the country and help him recover the lost trusts and achievements.
This is not a guarantee of a future political score, for politics is not a do or die affair for me .
I carry the duty of those who elected me ; to serve them and lobby for their interests. They didnโt send me to fight governments, they sent me to defend them, which I have done in
Parliament and in other arena head high .
I believed in kumi ya Uhuru , and committed to kumi ya Ruto .
I elected him in 2017 knowing very well heโs not from Mlima and so I will support him knowing the same.
Kenya is bigger than Mlima
Kenya is for all of us .
I hold a Kenyan degree not a Mlima degree .
I am a daughter of Mlima but I live with daughters of other hills and valleys.
I refuse to be a prisoner of tribal hatred just to be politically correct .
You donโt have to support William Ruto but shun the tribal hatred and promote coexistence.
Letโs shun tribal hatred.
Respectfully,
The Duchess of Githunguri.

They Nicknamed him Deno-Spotter
When Dennis Ombwori Bagaka, known to those around him as Deno, was brought into Nairobi West Prison in 2019, he was facing a court martial case.
Within the tightly controlled routines of the prison, where personal histories are quickly stripped away, Deno retained the posture and alertness of someone shaped by military discipline. He remained at the facility for two more years and quietly completed his sentence in early 2024.
After his release, Dennis struggled to re establish himself. He took up short term work as a security guard, rotating through nightclubs in Nakuru and Ruaka. The work was unpredictable and poorly paid, offering little sense of direction or long term security. During this period, he stayed in contact with former inmates and acquaintances, maintaining conversations through WhatsApp even as some of them were still serving their sentences.
On 16 July, Dennis made a call while in Kigali, where he was transiting on his way to the United Arab Emirates.
He explained that he had decided to pursue an opportunity in Russia, describing Dubai as only a temporary stop before continuing his journey. He sounded resolved and confident, assuring those he spoke to that he would call again once he arrived.
He did.
From Russia, Dennis spoke with renewed optimism. He described what he believed to be steady pay, structured contracts, and a future that extended beyond the battlefield. He spoke of finishing a year of service and being given choices to continue, to study, or to begin the process of acquiring Russian citizenship.
In his telling, the risk appeared calculated and the reward tangible. He encouraged others to consider following the same path.
As these conversations continued, questions began to surface. When pressed for more detail, Dennis shared contacts linked to the recruitment process. One was a Russian woman. The other was a Kenyan man named Musyoka. Both were contacted shortly before reports began circulating of Kenyan nationals becoming entangled in recruitment pipelines connected to Russiaโs war in Ukraine, with some facing arrest or disappearing from communication altogether.
Information about these recruitment links was quietly passed to a senior editor at a major Kenyan media house, with the hope that it would be developed into a serious investigative piece. No response followed. The material was set aside, archived while awaiting clearer evidence and safer conditions to pursue the story independently.
Later, Dennis confirmed that he had been deployed to Donetsk, a region heavily affected by fighting in eastern Ukraine. Another Kenyan former serviceman, who had also passed through Nairobi West Prison, remained in St Petersburg, waiting for deployment. The two had not seen each other since arriving in Russia.
In September, Kenyan authorities began cracking down on suspected recruiters and facilitators linked to the conflict. Around the same time, communication with Dennis abruptly stopped.
His phone went silent. So did that of the other Kenyan.
Recently, information emerged that Dennis Ombwori Bagaka had been killed while serving in Russia.
No formal announcement accompanied the news. His body has not been returned home, and the precise circumstances of his death remain unknown.
The whereabouts of the other Kenyan have still not been established.
Dennisโs journey, from incarceration to unstable civilian work and ultimately to a distant battlefield, reflects a broader and largely unseen pattern.
It is a story shaped by limited options, informal recruitment networks, and the powerful pull of promised stability in a world that offers few clear paths forward.
