Or maybe not every character needs redemption. Part of storytelling is encountering figures that are simply unfair, cruel, or incomprehensible, because those exist in reality. Removing that from children’s media makes it less honest, not more compassionate.

@kvromachi there's also that particular brand of goody two shoes characters that you just know they were made for everyone to love them, the creators were trying so hard to make them likeable and fun. absolutely boring and their fans... omg

i hate when characters are annoyingly perfect and wholesome more than when they are evil assholes who commit crimes. especially when their fans have a moral superiority complex for liking them
