Not true at all.
I had my then 3 year old back in school in May 2020 after the Governor ordered child care type centers opened
He also ordered restauants opened on limited capacity in May 2020
He then ordered schools to open for fall in June 2020 but ISDs went nuts and tied things up in Court.
Absolutely false to say this was in 2021

At yesterday's SD convention, I learned that in September 2020, the SREC of Texas (10 leaders and 31 representatives) overwhelmingly passed a resolution to open Texas without delay. "No Exceptions, No Delays... Open Texas NOW!" Greg Abbott ignored them and didn't open up the state until March 2021.

@BenjaminDEKR I mean it's already a very long movie and progressing through the scientific process of every new discovery would be tedious in this format. If you want to experience the scientific method more, read the book

A big problem with Project Hail Mary:
the science and engineering is so dumbed-down that it's borderline comical.
Problems get solved almost magically, with no process or iteration.
He meets alien life, shows it a clock, and five minutes later is having conversations. (His laptop magically translated the language, I guess.)
Grace is charming (unbelievably so) but isn't shown as a good scientist. He's shown as a fantastically-lucky scientist.
The Big Bang Theory had a similar problem, pretending to be a show for smart, techy people but mostly just winking at it.
In other words it's pop science when the world desperately needs hard engineering to be celebrated.
Still a good movie, but not nearly the classic it could and should have been.

This week marks Austin ISD's Pride week. The district says there will be pride-themed events that will happen outside of instructional time (before or after school).
