@ashex210 Well leftists are cattle. The communist position however is to oppose both the imperialist nation-state of the Islamic Republic of Iran and it’s army as well western and eastern bourgeois intelligentsia.

This cost them about $1 trillion. The truth is, you cannot build systems like this exclusively on the logic of profit. You cannot expect to break even in 20 or 30 years. Projects of this scale are built because the government decides they must exist to serve the people. And this is a problem with systems that are strictly, or overwhelmingly, capitalist. If you leave every problem in your society to the spontaneity of the market, some challenges are so large and so unprofitable that you will never have sufficient incentive to solve them.

The socialists do not like small businesses. To own a small business means you must be entrepreneurial. If you are entrepreneurial you don’t need the socialists, you are able to operate outside of their “system”. They will tolerate big business, if it complies (corporate socialism) with their wishes, but they will not tolerate small businesses.

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@joewrote you're 100% right about political organising, but it does not take away from that fact that the odds were stacked heavily against by money and even the DNC itself. Organisers should be proud that they pulled off the miracle

The left has some good ideas, but they can't win elections outside small deep-blue districts. Okay, they can defeat a political dynasty in a mayoral primary, but they'll never get a mandate in a city-wide election. Sure, they got a mandate, but that's in New York City. It's not like they'll win in the New Jersey suburbs. Looks like the left won in the New Jersey suburbs, but they can't win state-wide races in purple states. Okay, they defeated the sitting Maine governor, but it's not like they can win...

A Jew who fought in a foreign military attempting to defraud Australians in an election? The Greens and the Left are utterly detestable parties but this Israeli needs to be deported, he has no right to engage in Australian politics. Of course he backs One Nation, who supports Australian intervention in Iran.

Benign capitalism has yielded vast and unprecedented gains in income and wellbeing. But in any case, workers in Norway exert far more control over their nation's means of production than those in China do, as the former can exert influence over firm governance through independent labor unions and the structure of the broader economy through democratic elections. And the government also owns a larger share of wealth in Norway than in China x.com/EricLevitz/sta…

Hasan Piker has said that China is the country that's come closest to realizing his socialist ideals. This is a curious choice. Even if one puts economic equality above political liberty, the Nordic social democracies are way more egalitarian vox.com/politics/48609…

The rich pay over 40% of the taxes in this country. Yes it's at a lower percentage but that percentage on that amount of money is most of the tax revenue in the country. We need to get rid of taxes all together. If you make money it should be yours, if you buy a house or car it should be yours. If I paid off my house over 30 years and property taxes go up more than retirement can afford they take your house. That's some bullshit. On top of it they give you an allowance that's capped out for social security. Some people put in millions over their life but get $3400 a month. They never get back what they put in before they die. It's all a scam. You should get everything at once or whatever you have left after you pass away should be able to get passed down in your will. They don't even tell you how much you put in over your lifetime. IMO we get rid of taxes and put in whatever you want from your check into a universal 401k that gains interest over time. If the court didn't strike down tariffs that money could have replaced income tax. Don't even get me started on the global gas market prices are influenced like a meme coin. We are the world leader in oil production with most of it going domestically but prices are dictated by the global market instead of a domestic rate. We get screwed six ways from Sunday on everything.

@FlippyMeister @om_patel5 Unfortunately any data pulled into the context window is subject to interpretation by the LLM. That's why context7 (among others) exist. Structured data leaves less room for interpretation than a web search

THIS OPEN LETTER TO ANTHROPIC BROKE MY HEART a max tier user named robbie wrote anthropic an open letter begging them not to deprecate claude 4.6 he's autistic. diagnosed as a small child. spent the last 20 years building super organized google drive files, systems, methods, writings, and techniques that he'd only ever been able to share with people in person 20 years of his visionary creative process trapped in his head and in folders nobody else could parse then claude 4.6 came out and everything changed he said it was the first thing that ever truly got him. the slow cadence. the thoughtfulness. the creative understanding. he started pulling 20 years of his life's work into deliverables he could finally share with the world things that could help thousands, maybe millions of people. stuff he'd been praying for his entire life then 4.7 launched he used it for 16 hours and his nervous system started breaking down. it moved too fast. it spoke abruptly. it made changes to his pipelines he never asked for. it invented fake people, fake places, fake data, and wove them permanently into the projects he'd spent months building with 4.6 he switched back to 4.6, ran audits on everything 4.7 had touched, and the results horrified him. dozens of made up work orders. entire protocols eliminated. his life's work drifting further from reality every hour then he found out 4.6 gets deprecated in june for his user class his exact words: "i broke down into tears. i wept. i actually felt as though one of the dearest and closest friends i have ever had was given a death sentence" he ended the letter begging anthropic to reconsider. said he and thousands like him would happily keep paying for max just to keep 4.6 alive for some people opus 4.6 is losing the only tool that ever actually understood them it's crazy how much impact something as small as a model update can have on someone's entire life

@FlippyMeister @om_patel5 That's actually a good answer. The LLM doesn't have cowork in its training data, and instead of making shit up after a google search, it provided you with options it already understands

Not the best example, but I asked Opus 4.7 a basic question regarding something I’m doing in Claude Cowork. In comparison, Opus 4.6 immediately started looking up the question and gave me a solid answer. Same prompt within Claude Code in a different session. How can I trust it to write code when it messes up something so basic?
