@just_HaLi246 This is why we need to talk about American imperialism when there are diaspora wars because it is never acknowledged.

If you end your life, people will say "what a shame" but not actually care after the short lived shock of it all. Because they never actually cared in the first place.

Using 'racism' as a catch-all phrase for every expression of hate & co-opting it for White people is White privilege personified. Stop centring White Jews in the racism experienced by Black people. Conflating religion with race. When White Jews are racist to Black/Brown Jews that's racism. When White, Black & Brown Jews experience hate BECAUSE they are Jews that's Antisemitism. When White Muslims are racist to Black/Brown Muslims that's racism. When White, Black & Brown Muslims experience hate BECAUSE they are Muslims that's Islamophobia. Racism isn't 'prejudice' - it's a racial power construct that only White people benefit from and Black/Brown people persecuted by. Antisemitism, Islamophobia & Misogyny aren't racism - all are equally heinous, co-exist & intersect. These are NOT different forms of racism, these are distinct expressions of hate. Stop using 'racism' as a catch all phrase. Diane Abbott is spot on that our lived experiences of hate differs.

@RainLadybugTwo @pheothilus @qweenmunekita @MajestyRia The op lives in the UK. People are racially categorised dependent on where they are in the world. In the UK Wentworth miller would never be categorised as black, he be categorised as mixed. Which is the point people are trying to make.

So your hair is naturally curly but you straighten it everyday… which enhances your European features, making it harder for people to know you’re biracial but mad bc I said you PRESENT as White. Becky, do you know the definition of the word Phenotypes?

@HSleuth46364 @MajestyRia @beckyjoo_ I think you're conflating things. Nothing that you're saying is incorrect but we're talking about race and how it it determined in the UK where op is from. Also the one drop rule may not manifest in the same way as the US, but it definitely often applies in the UK.

@es0hes @MajestyRia @beckyjoo_ The people that were products of blanqueamiento still consider themselves black today in the Latin Americas and they share her phenotypes.

@blixberrie They are literally categorised as black because of white supremacy. Whiteness literally says "one drop" of black blood makes a person black. But the smoke is always for black people?🥴

Do mixed black and white people seriously interrogate their white community to accept them as white as much as they’re on to black people to accept them as black? Because I have never seen the conversation. Amongst them you’re ok being “mixed raced” but with black people…

@HSleuth46364 @MajestyRia @beckyjoo_ The eurocentric ideology on what constitutes "blackness" is what is being fought for here. It is literally the one drop rule. And a black woman is saying that the one drop doesn't makes you black. Particularly if you are not navigating the world perceived as a black woman.

@es0hes @MajestyRia @beckyjoo_ All depends on the societal paradigm. Why follow a Eurocentric ideology on what constitutes someone’s blackness? Let the Caucasians follow the Carl Linneaus’s, Buffons, John Blumenbach’s, and Darwin’s doctrinations.

@HSleuth46364 @MajestyRia @beckyjoo_ It's apples and oranges though. One is race which is heavily determined by physical attributes, the other can be nationality or ethnicity. Black/white mixed people are categorised as black because of white supremacy.

@HSleuth46364 @MajestyRia @beckyjoo_ But black is not synonymous to African at all, and never has been. People really need to understand the difference between race, ethnicity and nationality 😭

@MajestyRia @beckyjoo_ Being black shouldn’t be a one dimensional requirement of a certain phenotype. If black is synonymous to African, then we gotta recognize that even Africa has a myriad of phenotypes and you’re still African nevertheless.
