@escJB @TrumperTantru11 @darwintojesus Reality cannot be explained by literalism alone. Science can tell you how to kill grandma. It cannot tell you why not to. “My heart tells me to do good things” is not an adequate answer. Such an answer can justify the worst atrocities when “good” becomes a moving standard.

@keighnzo @_Severus @coldcallsniper Because if she wants to leave you she needs to decouple all the assets you share and go through an administrative process that delays her desire to have a clean break. I don't know how long the divorce process takes but I reckon it's a good few months

@Khaledhzakariah Doesn't say it's unbearable, but you're being myopic here. I've heard of people dying in 14C in Vietnam (admittedly older people), all bc they're simply not used to that much of a drop in the usual temperature. Bodies will naturally acclimatise within a particular range

@HoseyUTD @piersmorgan @FA_PGMOL If that's the case, why didn't they give it to Haaland? Because he had more goals than Bruno and was runner-up. That's a daylight robbery.

@escJB @_Severus @coldcallsniper She should definitely be allowed to leave with ease, but, I know the person I married. My girl isn’t greedy, nor does she care about material possessions. We’ve been married all this time and she has never asked me for a dime, all she wants is my time and attention.

@keighnzo @_Severus @coldcallsniper Because the default was not being in marriage. A change in circumstances entails that you think being married is better than not. Why do you care what the "legal world" thinks of your relationship? Surely all that matters to you is your experience with your partner and her w/you

@escJB @_Severus @coldcallsniper Why do I have to get anything in return when I genuinely love someone? I get a partner that does her part. And no, bf and gf doesn’t hold any weight in the legal world, in the medical world or any world where I need her on my documents.

@keighnzo @_Severus @coldcallsniper OK but let's say hypothetically your wife fell out of love for you, for any reason. You don't think she should be allowed to exit the relationship with relative ease? Why create all that legal entanglement to hold someone in an arrangement if their will has changed?

@escJB @_Severus @coldcallsniper I mean change like our physical habits, learning the way someone else lives. Any personal changes should come from within. I was used to living a way different than her, we changed and created our own form of a household.

@keighnzo @_Severus @coldcallsniper Why did you want marriage if there was no payoff? Boyfriend and girlfriend could have lasted as long as you wanted to, I don't see anything that would have changed.

@escJB @_Severus @coldcallsniper There is no pay off to marriage. Me and wife both agreed that being married was something we both wanted. I guess a long lasting partnership? You can only get so far as being “boyfriend and girlfriend”

@keighnzo @_Severus @coldcallsniper Right but you couldn't have predicted how you were going to change before you got married. You're again appealing to a kind of survivorship bias saying "oh yea nothing bad has happened", ignoring the millions of dead bodies behind you that didn't fare so well

@keighnzo @_Severus @coldcallsniper Of course you cared about a payoff. Why on earth did you get married in the first place instead of just retaining your relationship as it was?

@escJB @_Severus @coldcallsniper I don’t care about a “pay off” when I have an amazing person. My wife is as financially functioning as I am, I chose someone that wasn’t the typical person. I think I won, no risk or payoff needed.

@Austin_Mathew_ know your belief is self-motivated and that you're only doing it to cover your ass 3) what if a different god exists, and he gets especially angry at people who worshipped other gods? Then you are potentially losing out even more relative to sceptics

@Austin_Mathew_ Also this claim you "lose nothing" is dumb: 1) beliefs don't exist in a vacuum; you contort what you believe to comport with your pre-existing religious suppositions. This has you denying things that are true to reconcile religious overview 2) it's deluded to think a god wouldn't

@escJB @Mindlesscraker @jacelala You’re part of the group that has to be spoken to in absolutes or the point doesn’t land. It’s genuinely a sign of low IQ to not understand metaphors and analogies. Everything you’re saying here is pure yap. Have fun with that. I’m sure the people around you just love it.

@Austin_Mathew_ No god has ever been demonstrated to exist. But regardless you're not pitching the binary accurately. If your child rejected you, could you ever see any situation in which you would think eternal torment would be an appropriate reprimand?
