And by the time symptoms appear, they’re already here in NZ. How do we know it hasn’t happened already? The first confirmed cases in India were reported on 13 January. Anyone travelling in that window could arrive symptom-free… and collapse days later. That’s how pandemics enter island nations like NZ. And every day we have plane loads from India arriving in New Zealand, unvetted and unchecked. We are one of the most remote, isolated countries in the world. Our greatest defence is our border. Yet history tells us this government class won’t act early. At the start of Covid, Jacinda and Winston Peters refused to shut the borders. They waited until Covid was inside New Zealand… then locked us down, destroyed businesses, and tore lives apart. Why didn’t they shut down the border first? Because they’re globalists at heart, not guardians of a nation. New Zealand should be the pandemic safe-haven of the world. An island nation that protects its people. A country that acts before, not after. But mass travel from high-risk outbreak regions, with minimal screening and no pause button, puts that at risk. It’s not coincidence that many modern pandemics emerge from Indo-Asian countries - high-density populations where humans live in close proximity to animals, unhygienic living environments, sanitation systems are stretched, and diseases spread fast. That’s not opinion. That’s epidemiology. And we don’t need to be a part of the World Health Organisation to know what common sense looks like. 🛑 When deadly outbreaks emerge overseas, borders shut down. Immediately. Temporary travel pauses. Targeted quarantines. No apologies. Others aren’t waiting. Taiwan has already taken action. NZ should too. If protecting New Zealand makes politicians uncomfortable… then they’re in the wrong job. An island that refuses to defend its border will eventually pay the price with human life. Borders first. Lockdowns never again. An island that won’t defend its border invites disaster. New Zealand should be the pandemic-safe nation of the world.
