COLLINS: But if someone was paying $2.98 a gallon before the war, and now they're paying $4.53, saying 'that's life' might not make them feel better JIM JORDAN: Those are your words, not mine COLLINS: You said that just now. I quoted you.

We live on a planet where trees communicate, octopuses dream, elephants honor their dead, bees dance to find their way, crows remember, ants build, cats heal with their purring, and the forest, after the fire, blooms again.

@HistoryBoomer Unused the same midwives and gave birth in the same hospital and my daughter had the cord wrapped around her neck. But no one knew it until delivery. Heartbeat dropped had to be given oxygen, and they had to get her out very quickly. The midwives were rock stars!

My (former) wife is very crunchy granola. So when she was pregnant, she wanted midwives, not a hospital. But because we weren't fools, we went with midwives who had a birthing center IN THE HOSPITAL. But that never happened. Instead, seven weeks before the due date, we were at a check-up at the midwife center (a few blocks from St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital). One of the Scandinavian midwives (they were all Nordic) was listening for the heartbeat. Which was very slow (babies normally have a rapid heartbeat). "That's my heartbeat, right?" said my wife. The midwife said nothing to us, but looked worried, and, after a few moments of moving around the heartbeat monitor, called out, "Inga, Svenga, Helga!" and the other midwives came pouring in like the Swedish cavalry. It was quite impressive. They intently moved my wife's body around until the baby's heartbeat popped up again. And then they said we HAD to go to the hospital NOW to get this checked out. Smart midwives. Turns out the cord was wrapped around our gremlin's neck. Three tense days at the hospital and on the third night, after taking steroids to help develop his lungs (my wife was reluctant but went along), our kid was born via c-section 7 weeks early, 4 lbs 8 oz. Now he's a hulking 5'11" and doing great (age 26), but man, I'm glad hospitals are a thing!

Mel Robbins discovered she had ADHD at 47 — and she’s part of a whole “lost generation” of women. On Chris Williamson’s Modern Wisdom podcast, she explained how girls with ADHD show up completely differently than boys. While boys tend to be fidgety, disruptive, and get labeled as “behavior problems,” girls often become quiet, self-critical, anxious, and withdrawn. Because of that, an entire generation was misdiagnosed with anxiety instead of ADHD or dyslexia. Research in the 1970s focused almost entirely on boys, so millions of women spent decades treating the wrong thing. This one really clicked for me. So many smart, capable women carry around this quiet exhaustion and self-doubt for years, thinking it’s just “anxiety” or a personal flaw, when their brains were actually wired differently the whole time. The right diagnosis can be life-changing — it shifts you from years of fighting yourself to finally understanding and working with how your mind actually operates. Women (or anyone who knows one): were you ever diagnosed with anxiety as a teen or young adult, only to later find out it was ADHD or dyslexia? What changed once you knew?

When walking down 13 flights of stairs at your hotel is probably faster than waiting for an elevator (5-15 minutes), but “what if it comes…”
