@Mchapelproject @lauraidoak Not sure but I've seen a v similar symbol where it's 1/3 (which I've put down to the symbol being dangerously similar to 3). This can, however, have a specific numerator denoting 1xsymbol, and/or a superscript d, as in 1 3d, but then that is really confusable with d for penny

@Mchapelproject @lauraidoak Never read anything about it. I use learned it by encountering it in places where the sums were given in words and figures.

Left our site smiling yesterday. Just before packing up for the day these two boys popped out of a modern dump in our trench. The inner child in me is v happy 😁. It appears the first is British 8th Army, 1:32 scale. Made in Hong Kong in 1973. No joy on the second one yet... 🤔

@the_coral_lea 1997, test results suggested possible Down Syndrome and we were being pushed for amniocentesis, and abortion if positive. Dr said 'We're managing to screen out more and more these days'. We refused.

My son who has Down Syndrome was admitted to hospital with pneumonia at 2 months old. The pediatrician on call looked at him and said "You actually went through with the pregnancy?"

It's 5 November, so I'm remembering the time a few years back when my then 5-year-old son corrected me after I said the gunpowder plotters wanted to blow up Parliament. 'No', he told me, 'they wanted to blow up Parliament AND the king'. Still think the wee bugger is after my job.

There’s one easy thing that universities could do to make their PhD graduates more successful and employable. Just give them online library access rights for a few years/life. It seems like such an easy win. There’s probably a tech reason why it would be unmanageable but…

@LizzieSwarbrick I agree but the reality is very different. Retiring staff after decades of service get switched off as soon as their contract ends where I work.
