Great success at today’s #EUCO. The European Council recognises that Russian ex-combatants pose a potential threat to EU internal security and calls on the Commission to propose solutions.

.@MFAestonia has summoned the Russian chargé d’affaires after a Russian SU-30 fighter jet violated Estonia's airspace near Vaindloo Island on March 18, remaining for about one minute. I can confirm that NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission responded swiftly, with Italian Air Force units deployed. There was no threat to Estonia’s security. vm.ee/en/news/foreig…

Russia expected Ukraine to fall in days. Years later, Ukraine stands. And we stand with Ukraine. This war has never been about a lack of dialogue. It is about Russia’s unchanged goals. When aggression pays off, it repeats. Until it clearly fails, talks will change nothing. Pressure is the language the Kremlin understands.

Action against Russia’s shadow fleet continues. Sweden’s Coast Guard has boarded the suspected shadow vessel Sea Owl I in the Baltic Sea. These ships evade sanctions and help fund Russia’s war against Ukraine. Bold action against them is crucial. dn.se/sverige/kustbe…

What a pleasure to visit the beautiful #Estonian stand at the London Book Fair, just ahead of ‘emakeelepäev’ on 14 March, when we celebrate our mother tongue and Estonian literature. #Estonia #literature #books

In London, donor countries of the #TallinnMechanism gathered to coordinate support for strengthening Ukraine’s civilian cyber resilience. As Russia continues its cyberattacks against energy systems, critical infrastructure and public services in an effort to undermine societal resilience, sustained and unified support for 🇺🇦 cyber capabilities remains essential. Estonia 🇪🇪 is stepping up its efforts. We stand with Ukraine — also in cyberspace.

After 82 years, a powerful symbol of Estonia’s fight for freedom is finally coming home. 🇪🇪 In September 1944, as Soviet forces advanced on Tallinn, a young Estonian, Eugen Vilder, climbed the flagpole at Kadriorg Palace and rescued the Estonian flag so it would not fall into Soviet hands. For decades, that very flag was preserved far from home in Australia. The blue-black-white had flown over Kadriorg for only a few brief days during the government of Otto Tief — a fragile moment of Estonian independence between the collapse of Nazi occupation and the arrival of Soviet rule. Now, more than eight decades later, the flag returns to Estonia as a reminder of courage, resistance, and the unbroken will of a nation that refused to forget its freedom.

International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also a moment to recognise the progress still to be made. Today, like every day, EU Ambassadors in the UK stand united for the rights of all women and girls.

Turbulent times demand close coordination, and that is exactly what we put into action today in Warsaw together with my fellow Foreign Ministers of the Council of the Baltic Sea States. Thank you @sikorskiradek, for the warm welcome. From safeguarding our citizens amid the turmoil in the Middle East, to strengthening the security of NATO Allies and our partners in response to Iran’s widespread attacks, and advancing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, we discussed coordinated steps forward — for the security of our countries and our continent.

#BoycottRussianSport Already 11 countries – Canada, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, and Ukraine, together with the EU, are boycotting the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympics-2026 at the official level. The decision came after the International Paralympic Committee allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under their national flags and with their anthems at potential medal ceremonies. Allowing state symbols of the aggressors at an international sporting event is unacceptable while Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, supported by Belarus, continues.  Your solidarity matters. It sends a clear message: sport must stand for peace, fairness, and respect for international law.
