And we're live. Perfect Strangers (أصحاب...ولا أعز) is now streaming globally on @netflix. If you're outside the #MENA the film might appear under a different name. Try searching using the Arabic title or the cast's names in that case. Stream it, share with friends and ENJOY!

@firstshowing @YesitsAlistair do you have sources for this? i'd love to read up on it. i also read the other day they apparently sell distribution rights to at least France at "ridiculous high prices" so that would also explain why distributors might not be willing to take such financial risks

A24 only exist as a distributor in the US (with the exception of a few trial runs in the UK) - insane that their brand recognition is so high worldwide that their international distributors never get blamed for delays, despite being the ones sitting on their movies for months

@lovechazelle On Marty, their pricetag was insane. On top of it, they only showed distributors the film in Nov, basically giving them a super short window to market if they released it. So the ones who pick it up end up having to release by Feb, when it’s out on VOD in the US and pirated😄

@lovechazelle Because they don’t distribute directly outside the US and slap illogical & clearly exploitative prices that drive int’l distributors away. The one time int’l distributors actually bought into it and paid up was The Smashing Machine, and look how that turned out for everyone.

@lovechazelle Idk about other countries, but for France it's because they ask for an absurdly high cost to the distribution companies. Since it's too high, they wait out so the price drops week after week until it reaches a reasonable point (or they just give up)

@HenryJackson87 This app has always been terrible in that regard but it’s been getting worse and worse. Think we also forget how many teenagers are behind those player avatars.

You’d think that some Liverpool fans have never watched football and think champions win 38 matches in a row each season. We lost away to a good team in great form, and we’ve had a great start despite the death of a player and new young signings coming in. Stop the hysteria.

@HenryJackson87 I get it but Imagine turning down 8 figures for you and your family, setting them up for generations. It’s an insane amount of money + the lure of Spain/Madrid. Yes leaving on a free sucks but the club is run by American billionaires. He’s not leaving a club in tatters.

I'm disappointed in Trent, especially as he'll leave on a free transfer, but I'm not fuming with him like some. Much as it's hard to accept, sometimes a challenge other than Liverpool appeals, especially when you've won everything at the club. Legacy tarnished, though.

"Quadcopters were emitting baby sounds, playing sounds of screaming women." Palestinians in Gaza say Israel has been using small quadcopter drones, equipped with loudspeakers, to lure them out of their homes and then shoot them. #GazaCrimes

@omnii88 @BenRothenberg @asmitaghosh18 US journalists are quick to jump the gun on anything sports related that happens in the Gulf while they remain quiet on their country’ slaughtering of Palestinians/Lebanese. Ben maybe this is something you should write about the next time there’s a tennis tournament in the US?

How was this investigation conducted? As journalists in the West sought to portray the war on Gaza as complex and nuanced, a flood of social media posts from Israeli soldiers suggested they regarded it as anything but. We decided to investigate these posts. We expected to have to dedicate considerable resources to geolocation - the use of satellite maps and other sources to identify specific locations - and to the use of facial recognition software to scan the internet to identify the soldiers featured in the photos and videos. What we found, however, was that, for the most part, soldiers posted material in their own names on publicly accessible platforms and often gave details of when and where the incidents depicted took place. A Nasrallah account tweets in Hebrew, “Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow, maybe in a week.” Hundreds of Israelis respond in ways I can only describe as extremely Israeli: “Me starting a diet.” “The cable guy’s text message.” “When you ship your missiles by Israel Post.” “My wife when I ask for sex.” “Me about to study for an exam.” “His plan is to bore us to death, and it’s working.” (Some of these are paraphrases; check out the replies for many, many more and literal translations.) Going to war with Israelis is a bit like going to a movie with your dad. It’s hard to lose yourself in the dramatic tension once the dad jokes begin.

@Big3Tennis I think it’s less of a strategy and more of him not being able to deliver attacking tennis in a GS final.

Not sure how Zverev could enter this match with this game plan. If he thinks he can beat Alcaraz rallying and playing defense, he will be off this court quickly. Just letting Alcaraz take it to him.

You can tell Francis Ford Coppola thinks a lot about the Roman Empire because its influence is all over the mega failure that is MEGALOPOLIS. Themes of time, history, legacy, civilization, technology, politics, the media & economics are all touched upon in this golden sun-baked, grandiose piece of filmmaking but with little to zero cohesion between them. Shia LaBeouf dresses in drag, a live interactive Q&A took place during our screening (a first for me), and there was a smattering of unintentional laughs and boos throughout. Every member of this cast feels lost as they deliver some of the funniest line readings you’ll likely hear all year. Some will appreciate its scale & ambition. I would’ve admired it more if any of it worked, but at least I’ll never forget the incoherent, messy, WTF experience of it all.
