Here are the tie-breaking rules of the U17 AFCON. Even though Ghana have less yellow cards (5) than Algeria (6), this will not count as there is no disciplinary criterion in the rules. So, we draw lots. Hopefully the GFA took a lucky charm along with them!

FT: Ghana 🇬🇭 3-1 🇿🇦 South Africa Black Starlets equal on stats with Algeria (head-to-head, points and goal diff). Per the rules, after nothing separates two sides, lots will be drawn to determine who qualifies. Ghana need positive outcome to stay in U17 AFCON.

If you need a coworking space in Cape Coast, check out The Haven Workspace near Melcom. The space accommodates ~ 20 people in its open area and also has 4–5 private rooms, with Starlink internet available. I’ll share a proper review once I’ve spent more time using the space.

lol, these guys think they're sleek there's no such thing as "read-only" access for source code repositories if i give you a github link (whether public or private with access) you can still clone or download the code locally and modify it read-only only stops someone from editin' or pushin' changes to the repo itself as an innovator, unless you're sharin' compiled code (which can also be reverse engineered), don't casually share your source code also, why is sharin' full system architecture bein' mandatory? architecture diagrams, workflows, and implementation logic can reveal a lot about how a system works and with these ai dev tools, experienced teams can reproduce large parts of a system much faster once they understand the architecture yes, the call says intellectual property remains vested in the applicant, but innovators should still exercise caution about how much proprietary information they disclose durin' these so-called early-stage evaluations unless your software, architecture, or processes are properly protected through patents, trademarks, licenses, or strong contracts, share carefully and only what is necessary for evaluation there's nothin' wrong with participatin' just understand the technical and intellectual property realities before givin' your life's work to the government in the name of bein' listed on some registry

So usually, a company provides you with a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) that includes an Intellectual Property Assignment, usually stating that the codebase, designs and workflows built by the developer for your company now belongs to your company. It also includes a trade secret agreement that prevents the devloper from disclosing the company's key secrets and how they operate, also includes a non-compete agreement that prevents the developer from building a similar product, similar feature or even design somewhere else, and also a non solicitation (very important when the employee is of high value) this prevents them from any form of communication or interaction with your clients, employees, or even suppliers as long as the end goal will result in affecting your business or company.

A client paid a developer ₦800k to build his app. Two years later, the developer took the code down. Just like that. App gone. Business gone. The client thought he owned it because he paid for it. He didn’t. Here’s what most people don’t understand about software development: Paying for something to be built and owning what was built are two completely different things. When you pay a contractor to build your house, you own the house. That’s how physical things work. Code doesn’t work like that. By default…legally, the person who writes the code owns the code. Not you. Not your company. The developer. Unless you have a contract that explicitly transfers intellectual property rights to you, your developer can: – Take the codebase and walk – Sell it to someone else – Shut down access and demand more money – Rebuild the same thing for your competitor And they’re not doing anything illegal. Because legally, it was always theirs. This happens more than people talk about. Startups discover their developer owns their entire backend after a fallout. Business owners lose years of customer data because they never had the source code. Companies pay twice, once to build, once to rebuild from scratch because they skipped one conversation about IP. If you’re a founder, a product manager, or you’re hiring a developer right now before work starts, your contract needs to say: • All intellectual property created under this agreement is transferred to the client upon final payment. That one sentence. If the developer won’t sign it, that’s information. Developers too this is also why your contract matters. Be clear about what you’re handing over and what you’re not. Spec out what’s custom-built vs what’s built on libraries you’ll reuse. The IP conversation protects both sides. The handshake deal era is over. Money changes people. Relationships end. Businesses pivot. What protects you is paper. You paid for the app. Make sure you own it.

@smartnakamoura Great insights. I'll research further on this topic since I'm in the process of engaging a developer. It makes me uncomfortable when I hear developers threatening that they have access to a project's source code and use that as a leverage against their clients

No this is a great question I love this Think of source code like a Google Doc. If I write a document and share it with you, you having access doesn’t stop me from still having it. We both have it now. That’s just how digital things work copying doesn’t remove the original. So removing the developer from your code isn’t really the goal. You can’t un-teach someone what they built. What you actually want is: 1. Ownership of the repository: Code lives somewhere we call GitHub, GitLab, etc. Make sure the repo is under your account, not theirs. If it’s under their account, they control access. One bad day and they can lock you out. 2. The IP transfer contract: This doesn’t stop them from remembering how they built it. It stops them from legally claiming it, selling it, or taking it to your competitor and rebuilding it without consequence. If they do, you can sue. 3. Escrow or full handover of the codebase: You should have a copy of the entire code sitting somewhere you control. Not just the live app the actual files. The honest truth there is that you can’t completely stop a developer from reusing patterns or ideas from memory. But you can make sure: – They don’t control your access – They can’t legally commercialise what they built for you – If they try, there’s a paper trail that protects you
AsZeY💯🇬🇭@esuantse

@smartnakamoura I'm not a tech person so forgive my ignorance. How does a startup gain total control over the source code after a developer is done with their work? Yes the developer can duplicate and reuse it but how do you remove them from the one built for you?
