Spending time with children, I’m experiencing a sort of culture shock. Little boys and girls constantly call each other “bruh” like frat boys and the mullet has inexplicably made a comeback.

I can spontaneously stop my hiccups on command. Is this normal?

One of my favorite lecture series to listen to was Leonard Peikoff’s The History of Philosophy, so I was ecstatic to find out Amanda had a tape set of the missing second half of the series that goes from Kant to Rand. I’m so excited to listen to it!

I have really struggled to identify the common thread in the extremely eclectic collection of music I listen to. When people ask me what kind of music I like, I genuinely have no idea what to tell them. Just very specific songs in random disparate genres 😅

I feel like a moron whenever someone asks me how old I am. While I could always give an immediate reply as a kid, I have to take a minute to calculate it now. I simply spend zero time thinking about my current age in daily life, so my age doesn’t get updated in my memory 🤷‍♂️

It’s terrifying to me to have a doctor try to explain to me what my zodiac sign means about my personality. I thought middle school girls were the only ones who took horoscopes 100% seriously until I started spending time in California

So, I’ve been to a couple smog check kiosks for the first time in my life. These are some of the most jank businesses I have ever seen

Sometimes I wonder if garbage bins are specially designed to be as loud as possible when you roll them out to the curb

Me: …and Susan B. Anthony had taught school there. My girlfriend: Oh, is that where she sewed that flag? We were both laughing so hard 🤣

I know I parked by a brand new Mercedes and a sports car on a nice California street, but come on, this hurts my poor Camry’s feelings

My girlfriend was looking at a list of state populations yesterday. Her conclusion was, “Let’s move to Wyoming.” Hell yeah.

Going back and forth between rural Idaho and LA is a strange, surreal experience. One day I’m going to a gun show in the local elementary school gym and the next I’m having lunch with someone who actually believes in astrology. It’s hard to believe these two worlds coexist.

@HippyMomPhD @_samantha_joy @seanjs Having attended @KetteringU, I highly recommend it. I wouldn’t go as far as to say it is the best way to learn, but you get tons of work experience if developing that is your goal. Plus working a co-op full-time half the year makes it much easier to pay for school.

PSA: If your child has chosen a career that needs a college degree (ex: STEM). The best path both academically & financially is... 2 yrs Community College + 2 yrs at University Reasons👇 1. Community colleges have better teachers - because they are there to TEACH not to do research so kids get a stronger foundation (I say this as an ex-Professor - my job was to do research not teach. I was literally told not to spend too much time teaching) 2. Community college can start in high school 3. Many Universities have community colleges they are tied to so you can transfer right in after 2 yrs no SAT/ACT either just grades (great option for homeschool parents btw) 4. College 50% off! Pay for 2 yrs while others pay for 4 If my kids pick a field that needs a college degree, this is the path they will take❤️
