New book in draft: AI and Consciousness [link in thread] This book is a skeptical overview of the literature on AI and consciousness. Anyone who emails me comments on the entire manuscript will be thanked in print and receive an appreciatively signed hard copy.

@DonnerMSP @CAStateParks An absolutely huge shout-out and massive thanks to CA State Park Ranger Rachael at Donner Memorial --- super kind, amazing aura, and genuinely lovely --- who went entirely above and beyond! She had a look for any remaining printed CA State Park Brochures (the fantastic staff inside the visitor centre also had a look for me unsuccessfully, though that was really, really appreciated). Rachael also couldn't find one, but I really appreciated her trying. I got back in the car, drove off, and was at the entrance stop sign when in the corner of my eye I see Rachael running towards me from the entrance kiosk trying to flag me down! How she spotted me I have no idea (maybe my hat?) and even more surprising, she actually found probably the last remaining printed brochure for Donner! Completely above and beyond, I was literally gobsmacked! I collect these (like the NPS unigrids), and unfortunately they are being phased out in lieu of park info sheets (I guess somewhat understandably, due to printing costs), so we're currently doing a lot of hiking while trying to hunt for the remaining brochures out there. I'm looking into modifying the online PDFs and finding a printers to produce a bunch so they can be handed out only to those who really want one, if I can get round to it. Issue is blowing snow with more on the way, plus fog, apparently visibility is zero... Hopefully they can clear at least one pass through to Tahoe!
