A 22-degree sun halo was observed @HearstCastleSHM on the 4th of July. It is caused by sunlight refracting through hexagonal-shaped ice crystals that are suspended in high-altitude circus clouds. The ice crystals act as prims & create a circular rainbow ring around the sun.
