2026 marks 50 years of EU 🇪🇺 presence & partnership in Uganda – since the EU Delegation opened in Kampala in 1976. Our Ambassador @JanSadek was delighted to reflect on this important milestone in his address to 🇺🇬 media on the significance of the #EUandUganda50 Golden Jubilee.

Racism has no place in our Union or anywhere else. 60 years ago, the international community adopted the first global treaty to eliminate racial discrimination. Since then, this commitment has guided collective action to advance equality, human rights and a rules-based international order. Protecting minorities and combating racism reduces tensions and polarisation, strengthens resilience against conflict, manipulation and disinformation, and reinforces democratic values. On behalf of the Government and the people of Uganda, I thank the European Union for its ongoing support over the years and reaffirm our commitment to strengthening this partnership as we build our future. We thank God for this enduring relationship, which has greatly contributed to our development vision.

I also welcome the upcoming EU–Uganda Study Fair on 4th June at @Makerere as a timely initiative that will bring together higher education institutions and showcase study and research opportunities for Ugandan students. The @Educ_SportsUg will expedite coding approval for six schools to support ongoing EU-funded infrastructure development.

I commend the strong and longstanding partnership between Uganda and the European Union as we prepare to mark 50 years of bilateral cooperation, following my meeting with Ambassador @JanSadek and his delegation. We are grateful for its impact in improving the quality of life of our people through skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, and social protection.
