Senior point guard Avery Mauck delivered another big-time performance last night, leading a balanced and explosive Hoxie squad in a 30-point win over Russell. Mauck stuffed the stat sheet with 27 points, 4 assists, and 6 steals, showcasing her ability to take over offensively while still setting the tone defensively. On a balanced team where any player can go off on a given night, Mauck remains the steady engine that makes everything run. Hoxie improves to a perfect 14–0 on the season and continues to roll as the #2-ranked team in 2A girls. Mauck’s impact goes well beyond basketball, she’s a multi-sport standout, having surpassed 1,000 career assists during her senior volleyball season, and earned SIK All-State Honorable Mention honors on the hardwood last year as a junior. Season by the Numbers Hoxie has been nothing short of dominant, posting a 14–0 record with wins over Skyline, Norton (twice), Northern Valley, Osborne (twice), Hodgeman County, Oakley, Hill City, Colby, TMP-Marian (twice), and Decatur Community. Through those 14 games, the Indians have outscored opponents 904–475, giving them a staggering +429 point differential. That breaks down to 64.6 points per game scored, 33.9 points per game allowed, and an average margin of victory of +30.6 points. They’ve recorded nine wins by 25+ points, including a 73–6 opener against Skyline, a 76–41 win over Osborne, and a 54–25 victory over TMP-Marian, while also proving they can handle tighter contests when needed.
