@AdamCSharp In Slovakian, if someone is barraging you with lots of nonsensical why questions and you just want it to stop, you can say "lebo medved", which means "Because BEAR"

It’s of course not my place to add to the bear discourse, so instead here’s a thread on bears in global idioms, starting with this… In German, someone who takes the role of describing something (i.e. the rules of a board game) is der Erklärbär. It means “the explanation bear”

Another Swedish slang phrase for someone who isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer is “they don’t have all the Russians in the submarine.” There’s also one that translates to “they don’t have all the Finns in the sauna”

This is a thread of phrases similar to “a few sandwiches short of a picnic” from around the world, starting with this one… There’s a colourful old Swedish idiom that goes hjulet snurrar men hamstern är död. It means “the wheel is spinning but the hamster is dead”

Totally forgot / just never got round to it - but I’ve been doing this with a really lovely bunch and tonight I make my West End debut. Quite surreal, around this time I’d normally be doing a tech for a weird Edinburgh show but hey, swing and roundabouts

Seeing as Twitter as we knew it is now dead, here’s a thread of euphemisms about death from around the world, starting with this one… A euphemism for when someone has died in Haitian Creole is ale nan peyi san chapo. It means “gone to the land of no hats”
