1. That was 80 years ago 2. We were ruled by a genocidial dictatorship 3. The United States only entered the war cause Germany declared war on them (so no moral superiority) 4. Many Germans did not know the full extent of the crimes at the time 5. The United States has been involved in far more wars since 1945 than most nations. 6. Criticism is not the same as moral equivalence. It shouldn’t be my job to lecture Americans about their own history.
Most Americans already know about these wars and interventions, yet many show little interest in seriously reflecting on them or their consequences. And no, I’m not a hater.
I appreciate you for freeing us from Nazi tyranny. But at least someone has to talk about it. You should be happy that we think like that. That we learned from our own history and are willing to speak up against wrongdoing, even when it comes from a close ally.
