While I was in charge of comms at HashiCorp, I had a rule that when a competitor (even the rude ones) had a big announcement, no one at HC could talk about us. Let them have their moment, their day. Don't use it as an opportunity to advertise alternatives, its a bad look. i.e. a hypothetical: someone announces a new secrets manager. Absolutely no one talk about Vault. Don't say "oh Vault has this feature too." Don't say "they're missing all these things Vault can do." Don't say "if you like this, also check out Vault." Just don't say anything. Shipping is such an amazing day, let the people who worked hard on it enjoy their moment. Maybe someone can find a time or two this rule was broken (I'd be curious if it /ever/ was), but it should be pretty easy to go back in history and see this to be true. I'll say I have noticed it broken a couple times by non-employees but obviously... nothing I could've done about that. And also, I obviously don't work at HC anymore, but even prior to that I wasn't deeply involved in comms for a couple years or more so I'm not sure if this was broken during that time either. Unsure.
