A lot has happened these past few months, so I figured it was time to update my X friends. 2024 was a long one, and somehow 2025 has felt even longer; even though we’re only halfway through. Before you read on, just know: we’re doing alright and in good spirits. Back in November, I had a vasovagal episode and fainted, which led to two months of intense headaches. Then in February, I woke up with sharp intestinal pain, got up to walk it off, and suddenly lost my hearing for 15 minutes. That’s when we knew something bigger was going on. After 30+ doctor visits, multiple MRIs, and a lumbar puncture, we found out I was dealing with overlapping issues: PTSD from a substance-related psychosis in early 2024, undiagnosed anxiety, chronic prostatitis, Epstein–Barr virus (EBV), visual snow syndrome, and ultimately, Multiple Sclerosis. MS likely played a central role in all of it. From February to April, I was in a full relapse; vision issues, numbness, muscle weakness, dizziness, nausea, crushing fatigue, and more. I suspected MS early, but it wasn’t confirmed until my spinal fluid results came in May and I was officially diagnosed in June. The good news: only one lesion in my brain, none in my spine, and just one of three positive spinal markers. My neurologist called it “mild MS.” They don’t think it’s progressive, which is a big relief; and likely why it was so hard to detect for so long. I’m now on medication and have fully changed my diet and lifestyle, with the help of a friend who’s been through this. Compared to February, I feel like a new person. It’s a huge relief to finally have a diagnosis and a plan. I couldn’t have done any of this without my partner and my family. They helped find doctors, came to appointments, and supported me at my lowest. My partner has been my anchor; reminding me to breathe and literally holding my hand through it all. So many people have asked how I’m doing. This has shifted my perspective and made me appreciate everything more. There are much worse fates. I’m grateful this is something manageable, and I’m ready to face it head-on and keep healing. Love you all, Ry

I haven’t spoken about this publicly but a little while ago, I was diagnosed with a progressive disease called Ménière’s. It is an inner ear disorder with no cure, that results in debilitating attacks of deafness and loss of balance. During an attack I can’t stand, move, or hear anything - these attacks are not predictable and last anywhere from a couple of minutes to an hour. It can put me in dangerous and vulnerable positions and isn’t safe. The attacks have become frequent and difficult to manage.

As of today I am no longer acting as CEO of DFZ Labs, @psych_nft will take over as CEO, and I will be moving to a Director position where I will continue to oversee all aspects of the company and its verticals day to day - just at a different capacity. 🧵

While locked down, I was meeting new supremely creative people everyday and going to sleep feeling inspired and motivated, not downtrodden from covid isolation.
