They're taking it coming and going, and the beneficiaries of inflation are the government (and its employees), the big banks who have access to that money first and government contractors. The erosion of debt is basically worthless in the long run as property taxes increase with nominal value and home sale tax exemptions haven't increased in 20 years or more (I don't care enough to look it up). We're being taxed without acknowledgement from the government or consent of the governed. End the Fed.

@everett_rainier @BTC_for_Freedom Inflation isn't any worse than any other tax, and there's nothing wrong with some inflation. It erodes debt quite nicely, which is important in a world of 50-year mortgages. Whatever the government spends is what we're taxed, no matter how it's sugar coated.

- You: “Is inflation bad?” - Government: “Very bad. We fight it every day.” - You: “So the goal is 0%?” - Government: “No, the goal is 2%.” - You: “So the goal is… inflation?” - Government: “The goal is stable inflation.” - You: “Stable loss of my money?” - Government: “You’re not an economist.”

@tkulogo @BTC_for_Freedom People can do that now. T Bills (allegedly) pay a small risk premium over CPI. Savings accounts can have returns above CPI as well. This is a myth pushed by economists who want to be able to get away with a permanent pseudotax (inflation).

@BTC_for_Freedom The problem is, as soon as you pass 0%, even a little, people can make money by not spending money. When people stop spending money, prices drop. This increases deflation. This means you can make even more money by not spending. Everything stops any people without money starve.

The Claude "hard questions" commercial is one of the worst I've ever seen. It seems designed like a children's show with quick cuts and absolutely no point. It has made me more skeptical of AI than I was before (and I was/am pretty receptive).

@qualitylearnc There are OBs who will prescribe birth control at a higher frequency so women don't have periods. Every woman I've known who has done that has gone batshit crazy on top of the aesthetic effect.

@captive_dreamer This guy's brain should be studied like long term football players. But his brain will be completely smooth. No wrinkles. Parents will screen their fetuses and cry when they are given the Carrollemia diagnosis.

In one of Thomas Friedman's boomerslop globalist books, he talks about the idea that the Internet will create "super-empowered individuals" like Osama bin Laden. I didn't really buy into it but have come around. Except I think it would be more appropriate to use the phrase "super-empowered monsters." Only the absolute worst communists and sociopaths (Candace, AOC, Hasan, Tucker, etc, etc) are able to create followings of devoted morons willing to believe anything they say.

They police just took a pic of the Lance’s phone, guys! Biggest assasination since JFK and they decided not to collect it and store it into evidence. Just trusted him and took a couple of cute pics for insta. And now Lance has immunity. And of course the judge ruled that the defense did not need to examine these messages for authenticity at this stage of the hearing. It’s just not necessary at this stage- got it? Enjoy your Fed slop!

@DaneCockrell @jazayerli I think this is where the Royals usually screw up. He's hitting even though they don't think he can...so let him hit until it's obvious the league has figured him out and he can't adjust. Whit Merrifield is the one exception I can think of.

"Tyler Tolbert has a hit in nine consecutive at-bats" is not a line I expected to hear this season. Or any season. He now has a .319 career batting average in the major leagues, along with 30 steals in 94 games - 41 of those as a pinch-runner.

@DrewPavlou He got this idea from the Taliban or Al Qaeda. Charlie Wilson's War talks about Taliban soldiers raping Russian POWs... It's an Arab "custom" to exert dominance

@wil_da_beast630 I had senior friends who dated sophomores and the senior girls (who were teetotaling prudes) HATED it. I didn't bc my brother was a freshman and was dating a sophomore so I thought it was weird ... Now I'm in my 40s and my wife and I have a 10 year age gap lol

For Good Or Ill, this frantic age-gap shit is an entirely new thing. My first year of college - I entered early - there was a period of about two months where I was 17 and my girlfriend was 20. If YOU are 17 and in high school, your girlfriend is a sophomore volleyball player about to turn 15, and you both flip years...are you just supposed to immediately dump her?

There’s a guy in my neighborhood who has spent years cultivated the image of the "Perfect Suburban Dad." He’s the head of the HOA, coaches the youth league, and is the first person to complain if your grass is half an inch too long. A real "pillar of the community" type. Last month, he hosted a neighborhood fundraiser. He’s a big "tech historian" and has a massive collection of vintage computers and early tablets in his basement office. He was showing them off to a group of us. He gets a call and has to step out to the driveway. He leaves his main setup unlocked. My buddy, who is a bit of a jokester, went to change his wallpaper as a prank. But when he opened the file explorer, he didn't find family photos. He found a folder titled "The Truth." It was a meticulous, digital burn book. This guy had dossiers on every woman on our block, Candid photos taken over fences, screenshots of their social media, and long, rambling manifestos about how "feminism destroyed the neighborhood" and how these women "didn't know their place." He’d even written out "scores" for our wives based on how submissive he thought they were to their husbands. We didn't confront him, We didn't make a scene at the party. Instead, one of the guys, a IT specialist with a wicked streak, copied the entire folder onto a thumb drive. That night, he created a private, password protected site and sent the link to every single person in the neighborhood directory. The password was the guy's own house number. The fallout was nuclear. Within 24 hours, he was removed from the HOA board. The youth league banned him from the fields. His wife moved out by the weekend. He’s currently trying to sell his house, but nobody is buying. He walks to his mailbox with his head down while the women he "graded" just stare at him from across the street. He keeps telling people we "invaded his privacy." I told him over the fence: "Privacy is for people who have nothing to hide. You didn't have a private life; you had a private sickness. We just made it public." Small towns have long memories. Good luck selling that house, buddy.

Cole Ragans underwent a UCL repair on his left elbow yesterday. That was what the #Royals had feared but ultimately expected, and now they’re looking at getting Ragans back midseason next year.
