Just wrote a poem in ancient Greek from the perspective of my manuscript's love interest and am currently contemplating finding a way to include it in my book. Maybe an English translation of it? I don't think it will sound as good though.

Yesterday I lost the dog I’ve had since I was 14. This is the first time in a decade our house has had no dogs in it. It’s painfully quiet. He was a puppy mill rescue. Hated being touched, looked at, or perceived. Liked snacks. Miss the gremlin with my whole heart.
