I started doing interviews like this 6 months ago. I give candidates a nearly impossible task to do in 15-30 minutes that’s only possible using A.I. and tell them to “cheat” as much as possible to accomplish the task. For a devops hire, I tell them to spin me up a k8s cluster that hosts a simple hello world docker container using terraform. One candidate laughed and said it was impossible with the amount of time they had, I explained the candidate the day before did it in 10 minutes. It becomes clear who has mastered their tools and who’s just using A.I. as just auto complete.

When interviewing someone, at this point all I want to know is how good they are at Claude code. How are you figuring this out during interviews? Give them a take home project? Or what’s the best way.

@bitsycore @obscuredragoon @kaznius @enjojoyy The windows terminal is complete garbage, go use ghostty or iterm. The base macOS terminal is garbage too for that matter, but I have a lot more choices.

Do I know any folks that recreationally make sports bets? I am working on an app/site for tracking/reporting across books. I hope to move it to the cloud this weekend and need a few more testers soon. Note, right now it’s Google auth and you import bets (csv) or manually enter them. Books are jerks and don’t allow api access and I don’t want to deal with scraping,, not to mention ppls third party creds Once I work out a few kinks it will be super useful.
