Tucker Carlson admits he sincerely believed he could stop the war with Iran, and what being wrong taught him.
This is the rare moment Tucker turns the lens on himself:
CARLSON: "It's good to be reminded of how absurd you are, and how powerless you are.
"I've gone through periods where I'm like, I'm going to make a big difference. I'm going to stop the war with Iran, which I sincerely believed. I thought that I could do that. I don't know why I thought that. It's embarrassing in retrospect, but I really did think that.
"I'm glad I have been shorn of that illusion because it's an illusion, it's absurd. I am one guy. And even if I were a million guys, it's still a lie to tell ourselves that we're in charge of history."
"The theme I took away from reading them [the Old and New Testaments], in the Hebrew text and the Christian text, is: you are not God. Just remember that. It's really hard to remember that. It sounds easy, but it's been the thing I forget most often.
"You really think you're in charge, but you're not."
