@ewstevenson @DCryptoTiger Right. That's why you don't want to fund the government with just one giant income tax. You want import tariffs, property taxes, sales taxes, and so on. It makes tax evasion harder and ensures we don't severely disincentivize any one particular thing.

A "𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻" is the thing you file with the government to report your income and expenses. A "𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱" is money you get back if you paid more taxes than you owe.

Because having a number of small taxes is better than having one large tax for a number of reasons. There has never been any rule or principle that only one tax should apply to something.
For example, if the single tax was a consumptive tax, then it would hit people hardest when their income falls. If it was an income tax, it would not provide any stability of the tax base against income drops. If it was a land use tax, it would unfairly discourage activities that require more land. And so on.

A lot of people don't want to pay $99 a month for FSD. So they don't even try it.
Drop the price to $49.99 and suddenly it's an easy decision. Add a 6-month plan for $279 or a yearly plan for $499, and now it's a no-brainer.
We saw what happened when Tesla offered the Cybertruck for $59K. Demand took off. Same thing would happen with FSD.
Lower the price. Get more people in the door. Let the tech sell itself.

Thanks to the @maddow for having me on tonight to highlight how ICE is terrorizing our community in Salt Lake City and across the country.
We need leaders who will stand up for our immigrant communities, listen to them, and take on the authoritarians like Trump who think they can get away with these atrocities. We don’t need more status-quo politicians like my opponent, Ben McAdams, who has been bought-and-paid for by the private prison industry and ICE contractors.
This new DHS facility (internment camp) moved forward without any community input. That’s not how democracy should work. We need systems rooted in compassion that create real pathways to citizenship, we need to abolish ICE and prosecute the folks responsible. The agency should lose any social license to operate for tearing families apart in our streets.

The Salt Lake City Council voted to approve an ordinance tonight limiting water rights for new developments, with Mayor Erin Mendenhall speaking out against an ICE warehouse that will be impacted by this ordinance.

@jimiuorio Well it’s not your money. The money you’re paying now is going to current SS recipients. When you start collecting you’ll be relying on your kids to be paying for your retirement.

I’m not opposed to adjustments to social security. Raise the age slightly is fine but you can’t do it to anyone who is already within 15-20 years of retirement…they made plans and participated in the system they were given…

I'm based in France, but 43% of my audience is American.
I know many of us are in the same situation. To reach a wider audience, all my posts are in English, the international language.
Those who cause trouble may be punished, but with this change, which will significantly reduce our earnings, you're also penalizing a number of accounts that use the international language without any ill intent.
X tells us that videos and new, high-quality content will be prioritized, but this change will, on the contrary, drastically reduce our earnings.
