this is the perfect example of just another thing for the normies to get mad at. "OMG they're sucking up all the bookz and destroying them for AI!!!"
as if they are sourcing these books from your local public library or schools or whatever. i wonder if people know how many millions of books are sitting in warehouses and back rooms collecting dust. now this information is digitized and immortalized.
low awareness people are fed these shock stories and then turn it into a core belief, a part of their personality. in the next few months we will now be blessed with morons making social media posts about how "AI is causing a literacy crisis by wiping out all of our books" or some such nonsense. it is their way.

I truly do not understand the moral outrage about the books they took millions of discrete paper pages that would take many lifetimes to peruse and immortalized all the wisdom contained therein in a model that is free to use if you love knowledge or literature or wisdom, they are building your dream machine and if you have an attachment to the physical piece of paper or one particular storyline, you can still buy the book and read it on a beach! that our inane IP law requires that they shred the book after they immortalize it is completely beside the point and 100% irrelevant to you unless you enjoy making rage-bait about universally good things

The fundamental problem facing the vast majority of conservatives can be boiled down to this.
They believe standing by their principles will save them from tyranny, even as their enemies exploit their principles in order to force conservatives into a position where the only “principled” thing to do is to give them power.
And most conservatives know this is a problem, so they cope by telling themselves that this is actually a good thing, as if any good could ever come from handing power over to evil people.
