@iyanmoonyang what about the stuff that’s in some of the Robocup leagues? the soccer ones don’t really fit the bill, but others like rescue/@home probably have some pretty standard tasks that could be used the benchmarks being low noise makes me think the only choice is simulation tho

robotics benchmarks are so cooked 😭 here's what's needed for a good benchmark: 1. sensitive (if the underlying system improves slightly, the benchmark should detect it) 2. low noise 3. difficult to game 4. objective (different evals get the same answer) 5. cheap enough 6. representative 7. others can reproduce results

what else can people do with a computer engineering degree apart from becoming software engineers ? surely to get into stuff like VLSI and chip design (closes thing I could think of tbh) you need an EE degree, right ?

having the theory behind a problem readily accessible in the page is a very nice touch. makes it more interesting than alternatives like leetgpu for learning

just found out about @TensorTonic pretty cool platform, seems like a great resource to learn :) would also love to see some leaderboards to compete with other people on who can write the fastest implementation

thinking of the researcher back in the manual coding days that set their ide up to automatically git commit and push every time they pressed the spacebar, as if it were google docs autosave

@awesomekling but with the pressure engineers are under to use AI to ship as fast as possible, what does that even matter? pretty much no one is going to be writing code by hand, unfortunately.

Feels like “I actually enjoy writing code by hand” is about to become the big 2026 virtue signal for programmers.

wondering what's a good resource to learn GPU programming. i've already read a bunch of chapters from pmpp, but haven't really had any practice writing kernels at this point, i also wonder whether it's worth it to learn CUDA or just go straight to Triton

yeah, i'm getting kind of skeptical whether the guy who made this even fully proofread the entire thing

a lot of the shorthand terms are also not defined, and just used without any explanation peer reviews would eat this up

i saw a bunch of people posting around about the "Hitchhiker's Guide to Agentic AI", but now I'm wondering how many of them have read/are actually reading it. not very many reviews on this resource to know if it's really good or not

overall, i'd say it's a pretty great result for a one day project (if we don't take into account the fact my CAD model is most likely awful)

and i'd say the final result looks pretty good ! i even stole the rubber feet from the original case so it doesn't slip around. it's quite a bit shorter than the original too (22.3mm vs 16mm), which i'm sure will be good for my wrists

I had this cheap chinese mechanical keyboard laying around and couldn't use it because the people who designed it made it way too tall for no good reason, so my wrists would hurt after using it all day
