@HighwaysYORKS The current overnight closures on the A628 are the longest running scheduled works on the road since it opened in 1740. During this prolonged period why don’t you mend some of the many ‘car shaped’ holes in the walls at the side of the road thus avoiding further closures ?

There was a time, not so long ago, when an army of boys & girls from 12 years upwards set their alarm clocks for 5.30 a.m. & got dressed, mounted their bikes in all weathers & headed to their local newsagents to carry out their paper round. It was an important introduction to the world of work & to earning dosh for themselves & becoming independent. They are as rare as the rag & bone man now. We will never see their like again.

@HighwaysNWEST The tail backs for the cones taking the Eastbound M62 down to one lane were already back past the M61 Junction at approx. 10pm. By now it will be back past Eccles. People don’t have hours to spare due to your bad planning because they have work in the morning.

@HighwaysNWEST Just to clarify further… All Eastbound Trans-Penine routes are blocked: M62, Ashton-Under-Lyme and the A628 Woodhead. A ‘Full House’ !♠️♥️♣️♦️…no co-ordination or consideration for travellers whatsoever. Complete prohibition of Eastbound traffic unless you use rural & B roads.
