Another platform shutting down. I loved what DLive & Lino were doing originally. But after its acquisition/takeover/whatever it was, it lost what made it unique in my opinion.

A few days ago I saw a bunch of creators getting claimed by La7. Never thought they’d take down the original video though 😂
Wild that YouTube doesn’t really step in when companies abuse claims.
From music producers claiming seconds of audio to companies claiming entire topics…
Great system on paper. Easy to abuse in practice.

Honestly, it had so much potential but ultimately poor execution. Same with @trovolive & @WatchMixer.
I became a partner on Dlive in their early days during PewDiePie’s brand deal. I thought the idea was great! Viewers got rewards from watching that turned into gifts for the stream to get paid.
At the time I didn’t question it much, but I kept wondering where the money was coming from. Shortly after entering their partner program, they switched giving points (lemons) to viewers into a paid version where users would buy points or gifts, similar to how Twitch does bits or TikTok coins.
Sadly, this happens when trying to compete with giants like YouTube & Twitch. Mostly these sites are loss leaders, which is why Amazon hasn’t pulled the plug because even as a loss leader it’s one of the most recognized streaming sites.
Nonetheless, it’s still a shame to see alt streaming sites crumble. Great idea. Unsustainable model. That’s what killed it.
