🚨UPDATE: We're delighted that 71 Whitney Drive in Stevenage has just been designated Grade II following C20's listing application, saving the house from a consented demolition. Designed in 1966 by Derrick Shorten as his family home, Shorten was also project architect on the listed Coventry Railway Station (1962).

This is a war on the world’s remaining wildlife . . . if we don’t address this sort of savagery we will lose everything . Why is the world’s media ignoring this ? Why are the world’s governments ignoring this ? We have to act . Now . @NeptunesPirates

NEWS // The Library (1965-70) and Pollen Wing (1970-75) at Downside Abbey in Somerset have been listed at Grade II and II* respectively, following an application by C20. Designed by Francis Pollen, the buildings combine refences to Edwin Lutyens in limestone ashlar and bush hammered concrete, with the spectacular geometric volumes of the glazed octagonal reading room. The recent departure of the last monks from Downside leaves the monastic buildings without a function, and the Downside Abbey General Trust is in the process of creating a future strategy for the site.

LET’S CALL A SPADE A SPADE… This is a lay-by next to East Midlands airport. Could be anywhere in Britain. We really have become a nation of lazy, selfish, ignorant and anti-social slobs…or 20 million of us have at least.

It was a massive issue at the general election and now it's the very first question asked of a new Prime Minister, of a new government, in a new parliament. "Scrapping @Ofwat". Sounds like a bloody good idea to me.

Yes, you read that correctly. @Thameswater has been dumping sewage into the River Misbourne, a chalk stream, for 5,000 hours so far this year. And there's still five and a half months of 2024 left.
Paul Jennings@PJennings88

Heading towards 5000 hours of discharge for 2024 alone. This EDM was only been operational since late 2023 and has almost been discharging 100% of the time since commissioning. @thameswater
