Day 3/31 talking about #cNGN Today being the first Sunday of May, after church service, I was greeting a few church friends when I sat beside a friend who started gisting me about what happened on Friday 😭😂 She said she went to the market to buy foodstuff she wanted to cook. But before cooking, she was already too hungry, so she decided to stop at one restaurant by the roadside to buy cooked rice inside black nylon, get home, pour it into her plate, and eat. According to her, she already had plenty of takeaways at home and didn’t want to pay extra for another one. Just as it got to her turn to buy the food, one handsome guy she has been crushing on suddenly walked in to buy food, too 😭😂 She said her mind scattered immediately. Because now she was thinking “How am I supposed to tell this woman I want my rice inside black nylon in front of this guy?”😂 At that point, I just wanted to hear the whole gist and laugh at her. I needed to know Did she still buy the rice inside nylon with full confidence? Or did she suddenly change her mind and buy takeaway so the guy wouldn’t look at her somehow? 😭😂 That was when someone suddenly tapped me and said “Excuse me, can I ask you something?” In my mind, I was like “Who be this one again? Why now? Can’t you see I’m in the middle of something important?” 🙄😂 But I just had to fake a smile and say “Okay, I’m all ears.” He said “If I already have naira in my bank, why are people still talking about stablecoins?” Honestly, it’s a valid question. Because on the surface, they look like the same thing. But they’re not. I asked him a simple question back “If he had ever tried to send money late at night." and your bank app just says pending?” He laughed immediately. “Or when the network is bad and nothing moves?” Exactly. That’s where the difference starts. I told him, let’s keep it simple Naira in your bank = money controlled by your bank. Stablecoin (like @cngn_co) = digital money, you control yourself. Same value. Different experience. With your bank 🎀 Transactions can be delayed. 🎀 There are limits sometimes. 🎀 You depend on bank hours/systems. 🎀 Cross-border? Even more stress. You’re using money but through a middleman. With stablecoins like #cNGN 🎀 You can send it anytime. 🎀 Faster transactions. 🎀 Works across borders easier. 🎀 No waiting for “bank approval.” It’s still your naira just moving in a more flexible way. He then asked “So is it better than my bank?” I told him “Not better, just different.” Banks are great for saving, salaries, and structure. Stablecoins are great for speed, access, and flexibility. Then it clicked for him “Oh, so it depends on what I need at that moment.” Exactly. It’s not about replacing your bank. It’s about having another option. that works better in certain situations. Because the real difference isn’t just the money. It’s the experience of using it. One is structured and controlled. The other is flexible and borderless. Understanding that difference is how you start using both wisely.
