Friends, Romantic Circles didn't delete anything, but we haven't fully migrated the millions (!) of pages contained on the old RC website. As we work on that, you can access archived versions of the site through the Library of Congress.

The case for travel: you realize that John Lennon grew up in a house with Mackintosh-inspired rosette windows, located on a perfectly lovely street in Liverpool

look I will always write and play the good rocking tunes but if there’s a grad department that wants to help me get that PhD in Lit with a focus on the 18th c. novel, do holler

Who was your “gateway author”? What writer made you want to study your period of specialization? For me, it was Daniel Defoe. I loved his one-thing-after-another abundance. He had so many ideas that he just wrote and wrote, without much care for polish.

@friede In the imaginary world where I can make this happen, where do I go to “do” Defoe

quarantine isn't the same isolation. quarantine just pretty much means doing what you were supposed to be doing anyway except for real this time, and for two weeks.

The final papers are really good. The blogged meta commentary is also really good. I am happy. Tired of grading, yes. But I feel useful.

full disclosure: I've been teaching and/or grading for 13 hours, which is A LOT. but you know, teaching a 3-week semester has its up sides. (money, first off.) but wow, reading both public blog posts and academic papers has been really fun.
