@VadimYuryev So finally Apple fixed it 🤣

The iPhone 14 Pro's BIGGEST issue with its 48MP camera is that it forces you to use ProRaw which takes up 50-80MB of storage PER PHOTO. Thankfully, @falcon283 FIXED this issue with an easy-to-use Shortcut! Install Link: icloud.com/shortcuts/887f… Let me explain how it works! 🧵

@_AndrewRiley_ Yes sure, I was more curious to know the reason lead you to use jpeg over heif 🤗

@falcon283 You can easily change the converted format from JPEG to HEIF in the shortcut.

This is great, and it can be a bit better. I created an automation flow that runs a modified version of this every time I close the camera app. It will look at all raw photos taken in the last 30 minutes, convert and delete. icloud.com/shortcuts/dfce…

@Tonygeee94 @VadimYuryev Make sure the settings are consistent. To be honest I keep finding the settings randomly restored with no apparent reason. I feel is a bug in Shortcut on iOS 16.

@Andy4kaxd @VadimYuryev Without no doubts the ProRaw main purpose is to take the picture and post process on the Mac with other 3rd party professional tools.

@VadimYuryev @falcon283 Raw pictures have more noise, leas hdr and look worse overall, dont shot raw just to then export the same file as a jpeg just to have 48mp in it. Ultra dumb

@Andy4kaxd @VadimYuryev I would agree with you if Apple would allow us to choice between 48mp vs 12mp image, but it’s not. There are cases were you might prefer the 48mp size instead of the optimized 12mp and the only current way of doing on device is capturing the ProRaw and convert it to HEIF

@Arbilo97 @VadimYuryev Definitely lower than the ProRaw, in general better then the JPEG conversion counterpart. This is what claimed from the HEIF definition

@AlwynIsPat @VadimYuryev Well my idea of the features (ProRes and ProRaw) is you turn on only when you know you want to do something special in post and probably you want to use more professional tools to edit your shots. Shot, transfer, delete on iPhone, work on Mac. Same flow as standalone cameras.

@falcon283 @VadimYuryev Yup, saw that option too. Too bad there’s no way to convert ProRes too. Might not be worth it anyway.
