The government's deliberate use of an ordinance and the Constitutional Council to appoint the Chief Justice ,tramping on democtatic tradition and values,has dealt a serious blow to the dignity and independence of the judiciary ,as well as to the principle of seperation of powers in the state . This is the first decision of its kind in the hostory of Nepal's judiciary and it has become not merely a subject of immediate criticism ,but a negative event that will lead the judiciary and the state as a whole in the wrong direction over the long term . Such a mindset and working style of the government clearly shoes that the government is rapidly moving toward an authoritarian direction.Therefore ,let all democratic forces and general public who support democracy remain vigilant and unite to defend democracy .
